All a matter of scale and perspective. Both per capita and total, the US by far has the largest incarcerated population on earth: http://www.prisonsucks.com/

The DPRK has sent people to FUCKING DIE because of their poor mourning of Kim Jong-IL.

Concentration camps are awful places. They are not just prisons.
In a prison, you still have human rights for one...

Argh. Syngman Rhee. He killed my great uncle because he might have had "communist sympathies".
But I doubt anyone approves of what he did.

This ^^. Syngman Rhee was a tyrant. As anti-communist as I am, I find the idea to whitewash a fascist murderer of his crimes repugnant.
OP, do you know what you are doing with the dictatorship socialist regime of North Korea? That's called Negationism, and that's repugnant.

Hell, even eastern organisations do not support the DPRK. The East West center has a rather bleak view of it http://www.eastwestcenter.org/fileadmin/stored/pdfs/pswp020.pdf and it cites evidence from refugees in both authoritarian china and less authoritarian south korea.
