An idea for a rl company

Postby United Gordonopia » Wed Sep 23, 2009 9:33 pm

I'm still in high school, but I like thinking of ideas for ways to be successful as an adult. For awhile, I've been thinking about forming a company that's a "safety company". Many of you probably know that American parents are often WAY over-protective. Hell, when I go to the lake near my house, there's a couple of families that make their little kids wear bicycle helmets in the water. I've come up with a few product ideas so far. I don't yet have names, but I've got the general idea. Here's the flagship product (I'll put up others later):

Helmets for the car: Now, the name probably threw some people off. This isn't just a normal helmet. The passenger model would have a screen that would go over the eyes, allowing you to plug in videos, music players, video games, etc. The driver model wouldn't have a screen. Of course, the main goal of the helmet would still be safety. The commercials would do things like have a guy in a wheelchair saying: "Hello, I'm a quadraplegic. Two years go, I got in a car accident that made me the way I am. I was wearing my seatbelt, and my air bag deployed. But with all of that, I will be confined to a wheelchair for the rest of my life. If only I had worn a helmet."

So NSG, do you think this will work? Also, any product ideas? (I need one for ocean ships. I have one for skiing, and airplanes as well).

As an investor I would never put any money into a company that produces helmets for your run of the mill motorist as it's flagship product...

You don't want the driver to see anything that isn't directly involved with what's ahead of them, so being able to view the other passenger's screens.

Mostly you'd have to prove that it matters enough for people to wear them.

Not to be mean, but I hope you fail because if it's effective eventually someone will try to make them mandatory.
"...I have been gravely disappointed with the white moderate. I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro's great stumbling block in the stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen's Council-er or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate who is more devoted to "order" than to justice; who prefers a negative peace which is the absence of tension to a positive peace which is the presence of justice; who constantly says "I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I can't agree with your methods of direct action;" who paternalistically feels he can set the timetable for another man's freedom; who lives by the myth of time and who constantly advises the Negro to wait until a "more convenient season." -MLK Jr.

Honestly, that is a horrible idea, and I think it will be the cause of accidents.

That sounds like an idea I would have while high.

Sounds alright simply because it gives you a good way to view things, though that idea isn't new. There is no need for the safety bit though except to market it if you think that promoting a safety aspect will help boost sales.

And take off the bit where the driver can change and view every other screen being used by the passengers.

You know you've made it on NSG when you have a whole thread created around what you said.

Ok, I'll take the part off about the screen. And most of you have said it's a bad idea, or no one would buy it, but think about it, with all of the over protective, "safety concerned" parents out there, this might sell pretty well.

I can think of nothing safer than a driver being distracted not just by driving and the usual dashboard stuff but also ALL of the screens of their passengers.

I have to say this is failful.

Anyone else seeing a van full of people going down the road wearing giant helmets, blithely unaware that they're about to hit the back end of a truck and the car will crush like a tin can?
Venicilian: wow. Jesus hung around with everyone. boys, girls, rich, poor(mostly), sick, healthy, etc. in fact, i bet he even went up to gay people and tried to heal them so they would be straight.

New Kereptica: Since power is changed energy over time, an increase in power would mean, in this case, an increase in energy. As energy is equivalent to mass and the density of the government is static, the volume of the government must increase.

What does this helmet for cars offer that existing crash helmets don't already do?

so... a product that is designed to distract the driver is built with the purpose of safety? Mind if I put that idea right there among other like "Drivers who READ while driving" and "Drivers who TEXT while driving"?

now a helmet, plain and simple helmet, with options for a sunvisor... ok. that I can see. but trying to convince car drivers to wear a helmet when Motorcyclists don't...
on the other hand... I have another set of fingers.

Unscramble these words...1) PNEIS. 2)HTIELR 3) NGGERI 4) BUTTSXE
1) SPINE. 2) LITHER 3)GINGER 4)SUBTEXT

I believe a few manufacturers beat you to that idea.

You know what sucks? My grandfather had an idea that was absolutely brilliant, but a man went on Dragon's Den with exactly the same idea, got the investments and is now a multi-millionare. Too slow, Grand-Dad, too slow.

Meh. I'd invest.

Just to see where the road would take me.

It might end up being pretty fun.

Or a horrid failure.

As a "safety concerned" parent, your idea is bullshit and I wouldn't buy it. Also, what kind of fucktard puts a helmet on their kid when they're swimming?!

"oh, hey! I got an idea, lets make their head HEAVIER before we put them in the water"

brilliant.
