If that's the reason you want to be in law enforcement, I STRONGLY suggest you look elsewhere. It's a job for dedicated individuals who are willing to do things "normal" people would never do and involves a high degree of moral and ethical conduct. Namely, integrity.

I'm not saying you need to be perfect, you just need to be able to stand up and tell the truth about it. Most departments have a policy to 'forgive and forget' past events over a certain time period (five years usually)

As for fooling a polygraph, you shouldn't need to. They ask you the questions for a reason. It's to see if you're lying or not, if you can tell the truth, if you have integrity. All the departments in my area use it, and I've done it. It's not difficult if you just tell the truth.

that's nice.

Just curious as Due to need of money I find myself steered to law enforcement, and I may need to gloss over a few things in my past.

Just prey they don't look at NSG :D

I mask my IP.

So you're looking at the FBI and Secret Service (only one of which is law enforcement, by the way), and think they can't figure out their IP if they want to?

they would if they were watching it right now.

The secret service is law enforcement.
They handle currency counterfeiting.

Ergo, guess which one I meant isn't law enforcement.

I seem to remember hearing something about putting a stone in your shoe to fool a polygraph. I have no idea how that is supposed to work, but it sounds like exactly the sort of half-assed scheme a Generalite would try.

Clench your anal sphincter on test questions. It simulates the physical responses to fear that the polygraph measures.

Watch the Penn & Teller: Bullshit! episode on the "Lie Detector" issue.

The federal Bureau of investigation isn't law enforcement ??
There website says they enforce federal laws, doesn't that make them law enforcement ?

it is a tack or sharp stone then you jab your toe on it during the test questions.
This throws off your base line readings so your lies look like the truth.

It is accurate around 99% of the time I think, it's just that the 1% would still be a considerably and unacceptably large number of innocents going to jail.

Considering aldrich ames passed it twice while spying for the soviets I can't say it is 99% accurate.

If History Channel is to be believed, taking a polygraph test is a little more accurate than a coin flip.

Well Aldrich would have been trained to not be detected by it, but most people aren't, hence the 99%.

If you want to become LE because of money you need to get the hell away from that career. Its one for dedicated individuals that love to help people... its not a 9-5 job either... 12 hour shifts and you ALWAYS bring you work home with you... you can see dead bodies and have to shoot/put down animals... think about it..

I suggest you go to the forum Officer.com and tell them why you want to be LE because of money, they would CHEW your ass up.

Eh I thought I remember reading it somewhere (can't quite recall where), I guess I either read/recall wrong or what I read was wrong.

In the UK it is used in serious and rigorous domestic research broadcasts such as the Jeremy Kyle show.
