This actually made me laugh out loud, I thought something similar when I read the thread name.

If you notice race, you're racist, it's just to what degree. Serious, high-intensity racism doesn't exist on a widespread level in today's America (I can't speak for the rest of the world), it's a creation of people (of ANY race) who can't admit to themselves that they just aren't good enough to do something.

So, in my opinion, as an American, whether or not your people were here back then, your are responible to help correct the crimes of humanity to Native America & African America. I say this because I can't accept the arguement "Well I wasn't here back then"; You see all of the good things that come with being an American citizen, are owed (at least in part) to the crimes of yesterday. Therefore, if you reap the benofits, you should help pay what is owed for them.

You can not possibly be serious. Your logic would say that if you benefit from, say, the murder of a person who was blackmailing you, you should go to prison whether you were involved or not. And you CAN'T mean that, can you?

I perosonally believe that as humans we should all be equal, and we shouldn't mention race. But, blacks are gay as well, most would argue that it is becuase of whites enslaving blacks, but that is a very wide statment, my family(irish, german, and itailian) haden't come to america untill the late 1880's, and were not engaged in slavery, so why should I be held responsible? And also, why do whites have problems with blacks?

Racism is as old as civilization. When you look at America, there was racism again Native Americans, then African Americans, then Irish, & any other new group of imagrants. Even now the Latinos face a lot of racism in America. As far as being held responible, a government that has committed crimes of humanity against a race is responsible for correcting that, but not racism in general. And how exactly would one go about correcting crimes that happened hundreds of years ago to people long since dead? Would you suggest that their decendants recieve some type of reparation for actions that haven't affected them?

Agreed, but honestly, if you look at some of the shit being flung at anyone who disagrees with the President, not only by blacks, but also by white, purples, greens, and oranges (being racially sensitive), people are still quick to jump to racism (yes, I do realize that this is mostly politically motivated).
