I perosonally believe that as humans we should all be equal, and we shouldn't mention race. But, blacks are gay as well, most would argue that it is becuase of whites enslaving blacks, but that is a very wide statment, my family(irish, german, and itailian) haden't come to america untill the late 1880's, and were not engaged in slavery, so why should I be held responsible? And also, why do whites have problems with blacks?

Why should any modern person be "held responsible" for things they did not do?

Unfortunately, race is a fact. The species of man can be subdivided into races. Just like, say, dogs or cats.

Racism is as old as civilization. When you look at America, there was racism again Native Americans, then African Americans, then Irish, & any other new group of imagrants. Even now the Latinos face a lot of racism in America. As far as being held responible, a government that has committed crimes of humanity against a race is responsible for correcting that, but not racism in general. So, in my opinion, as an American, whether or not your people were here back then, your are responible to help correct the crimes of humanity to Native America & African America. I say this because I can't accept the arguement "Well I wasn't here back then"; You see all of the good things that come with being an American citizen, are owed (at least in part) to the crimes of yesterday. Therefore, if you reap the benofits, you should help pay what is owed for them.
