Many of you NSGers have most likely heard of the 'You be nice to them, and they'll be nice to you' theory. I think that this way of thinking is insane. Think back to when you were 9 or 10, going into a new grade at school.....Think when you met that first bully.

Human nature is BAD

I understand that human nature is bad, and find it reprehensible to sit back and do nothing to make it better. Human nature like other facets of nature as a whole, is capable of evolution. See morals, ethics, philosophy, religion, art, science, music, literature; all are things of beauty that have come from a human consciousness that rises above the pettiness of "human nature" and show us the greatness of human potential. We are complex creatures and I for one refuse to cling to simplistic and barbarous worldviews that perpetuate the evils of man. No I choose to rise above and envision something better. If no one desired to be better than dogs civilization would not exist.

Exactly. I mean, as long as you're nice about it, you still have the moral high ground and people will respect you for it. The "treat others as you wish to be treated" is bullshit to say the least. I personally follow the reasoning "treat others as they treat you"; if someone treats me good, I treat him/her good, and if someone treats me badly, I treat him/her badly.

Many of you NSGers have most likely heard of the 'You be nice to them, and they'll be nice to you' theory. I think that this way of thinking is insane. Think back to when you were 9 or 10, going into a new grade at school.....Think when you met that first bully. Did being nice to him make him nice to you? Or did he kick your ass, or pester you all the way through school? The same could be said about politics. You don't convince any foreign power to back down by sending gifts and being nice. You make a stand to show that they are going to stop what they're doing. Now I can understand that this can be abused, but I mean actually standing up for yourself, or others, not to use it for personal gain.

What do you NSGers think? is it possible to use this theory in politics or life?
