That's the first action. When that doesn't work, it gets a bit trickier. Clearing jams on high-pressure weapons is relatively dangerous even in controlled conditions, and quite dangerous in the field when the danger of ignoring safety with own rifle has to compete with the danger from enemy fire if time is taken to do it safely.

edit: Although, when done at least remotely properly, even if quickly, one generally only risks a cut or a severe bruise, not fatality.

Maybe gun manufactories should add a manual with their guns. A manual that's describing how you can shoot yourself.

I think that would help.

Maybe Obama can change this one too.

Why the hatred for gun owners?
The Empire of Pretantia wrote:[...] TLDR; welcome to the internet. Bicker or GTFO.
"Why is self-control, autonomy, such a threat to authority? Because the person who controls himself, who is his own master, has no need for an authority to be his master. This, then, renders authority unemployed. What is he to do if he cannot control others? To be sure, he could mind his own business. But that is a fatuous answer, for those who are satisfied to mind their own business do not aspire to become authorities." ~ Thomas Szasz

Please stop attempting to bait firearms owners.
Gun control is like trying to solve drunk driving by making it harder for sober people to own cars.

we COULD stop having wars
we COULD stop mass producing guns
and especially we could STOP gratuitously trying to convince ourselves
that we can't.

as for people who want to own guns,
fine, as long as they're willing to learn how to make their own
and actually do so, instead of imagining that by however they may have,
accumulating sufficient symbolic value to do so,
makes them some kind of infallible geniuses.

keep gun ownership legal,
indeed never ban the mere possession of anything
but not the mass production of fire arms.

this would solve so many problems
and only offend and be opposed by
economic interests that could give a dam less
about anyone's or any nation's or anything else's
well being.
truth isn't what i say. isn't what you say. isn't what anybody says. truth is what is there, when no one is saying anything.

"economic freedom" is "the cake"

That rule transcends firearms, though. Don't drive a motor vehicle, operate machinery, handle firearms, or post on web forums while drunk.

Whatever for? Wishing people would commit accidental suicide simply because they possess firearms? How small and petty you are. Guns are tools. Dangerous tools no doubt, but tools nonetheless. If there is excessive violence in the use of these tools, then the problem lies in the people, and perhaps the culture, that surrounds it. The tools themselves are inert and can do nothing without an operator.

Cars kill more people than guns. Ban cars? Wait, cars are just tools that do nothing without an operator. I know, we must immediately pass legislation to BAN PEOPLE!
