Well, not anymore. Also, in a couple of the articles I looked at, it mentions alcohol may have been involved. If that's the case, it looks like there was several reasons for this guy not to be teaching a firearms safety course (didn't treat the firearms as if they were loaded, pointed the firearms at something he didn't want to shoot, and was handling firearms while under the influence of alcohol).

Wow. It's a smorgasbord of failure. :palm:

That rule transcends firearms, though. Don't drive a motor vehicle, operate machinery, handle firearms, or post on web forums while drunk.

In Connecticut, it's a class B misdemeanor (Statute 53-206d) to carry a firearm while intoxicated.
Gun control is like trying to solve drunk driving by making it harder for sober people to own cars.

There's a large enough population of idiots out there that this seems plausible while being a completely retarded thing to do.

I wonder what sort of Gun safety course if any he was given, as this severely breaches the ten commandments of gun safety.

Since modern medicine makes so many stupid things survivable, shooting oneself in the head remains one of the few ways of reliably eliminating bad traits from the species. I'm therefore in favor of this practice.

No he was robably teaching his girlfriend how to shoot. Nothing about what he did was safe. He broke basic firarms safety rules, like handle every gun as though it were loaded, even if you know its not, and don't point the gun at anything you don't want to shoot.

So that's what Charlton Heston got from God when he went up on that mountain filming The 10 Commandments.

It all makes perfect sense now. Commandment Number 1: "From my cold, dead hands."

No, go on... Laughing at morons is completely justified.

Other than the rules of firearms mentioned, the dude also forgot one specific to his act -- never assume that a gun's safety mechanism will always work.

Whatever for? Wishing people would commit accidental suicide simply because they possess firearms? How small and petty you are. Guns are tools. Dangerous tools no doubt, but tools nonetheless. If there is excessive violence in the use of these tools, then the problem lies in the people, and perhaps the culture, that surrounds it. The tools themselves are inert and can do nothing without an operator.

You'd be surprised by the sheer amount of soldiers who end up wounded (or killed) because when their rifle jammed, they looked down the barrel. From the muzzle.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the correct action in the event of a jam to try and manually eject the cartridge with the charging handle?
