How exactly does that utilise biblical wisdom in any way? The nuclear family structure is not really based on the bible, it is a regional/culture thing. The bible only directly addresses polgyamous marriage. There are men in the bible with only one spouse, but that is never labelled as the 'correct' form of marriage. Biblical wisdom and the teachings of contemporary Christians arent the same thing.

And nuclear marriage is very recent too, only really catching on with the stiffening morality of Victorian times.

Interestingly enough, the gods of the Disc have never bothered much about judging the souls of the dead, and so people only go to hell if that's where they deserve to go. ID was something cooked up by creationists to get around the ban on teaching religion in class imposed by the First Ammendment. The only difference between ID and Creationism is instead of "god did it" it is said "a god did it".

If you're talking the monotheistic god laid out in the torah, bible, and qu'ran, then physics disproves god. You cannot have both that god and a universe obeying physical laws. Seeing as we exist in a universe obeying physical laws, we can safely say no god. The fact that we have exactly zero evidence for god helps too.

Except god is explicitly stated to be omnipotent, which tends to mean he doesn't care for physical 'laws' that bind mortals. Physics would only disprove god if we presumed god had to obey physics, but his omnipotence would indicate otherwise.

Why do you think physics breaks him. We either can have omnipotency or physics. Take your pick, but the fact of the matter is that we can't have both and we live in a universe governed by physical laws.

Convenient fallback. You can't prove they exist, you merely assert they do without evidence to back it up.

Except that I'm not asserting they exist. I'm saying that IF they exist, there's no likely to be no local evidence because things in space are really, really far away.

When we get to the point where we can even examine where our nearest 'alien' neighbours might be - and that's something like four years distant, IF we could travel at the speed of light, which we can't - then we will have our first real opportunity to look for 'alien' life.

On the other hand - if we're looking for an interventionist god that allegedly is active in this world's affairs - the evidence would be HERE, not four light-years away.

And yes, I guess that makes it flat as well.
