I cook because I find it relaxing.

I clean because I find it relaxing and she is too f*"king slow at it

I wash my clothes, she washes hers.

Neither of us washes the cars. Neither of us irons. Body heat takes those creases out fine for me.

It's divided between Me, Myself and I. tho Me and Myself are slacking. I have been cleaning my apartment all alone. tho I think I'll leave the chores for me and Myself to do. force them to carry their own weight for a change.

Nobody does anything, so the house is pretty disorganized and gross.

I just do the things I like, cooking, diy, anything that needs doing around technology.

Since I only do the things I enjoy I assume that whoever is doing the cleaning, ironing and washing up is working on the same principle and enjoys those tasks also.

We both enjoy cooking, so we spilt that roughly 50/50 and whoever didn't cook ends up doing the dishes. Neither of us tidy up the clutter often enough, but actual cleaning gets divvied up roughly 50/50 as well (although it's always me that cleans the kitchen and always my wife that cleans the bathroom). She loads up the washing machine with laundry, I get it dried (either outside on the line or inside on/near radiators) and then she'll iron whatever seems to need ironed and I'll (eventually) put it away. Other tasks tend to stay undone until one of us just can't take it any more and succumbs.

It's not something we've ever really talked about or agreed on, it's just a system that seems to have evolved over the years we've lived together and it seems to work for us pretty nicely

I wash the car, because she's my other baby.

Everything is attempted at 50/50, but I often do things for her. Not that she cant do it, I just enjoy helping out and doing work.

When I was married, I was a stay at home mom, so I did pretty much everything.

When my daughter was living with my, her idea of division of labor was to 1. Note what needed to be done, 2. Tell me about it. She's a lot like her father in that respect. Now that she has her own place, I guess she has to note what needs to be done and do it herself.

To be fair, she did do all the laundry and pay for the groceries and utilities. Of course her idea of doing the laundry was to toss a bunch of clothes in the machine, fill it with water and some detergent, let it run, put it in the dryer, pull out all her clothes when it was dry and tell me that there were clothes to be put away.

Like I said, a lot like her father.

I do a lot less now that I live alone - probably because there's a lot less to do.

I like living alone.

It's about 30/70 since I work and she is at home.

I live in a rented house with five other people (four students like me, one who's working) and, in theory, there's a rota that everyone should follow for chores.

In practice, it's all gone to hell and things tend to be done by one or another person. For example, two people do their own washing up and two others basically let other people do it for them, occasionally making a song and dance about getting their arses in gear and doing it for once. The two of us left tend to do the washing up whenever we get sick of the piles of dishes.

Other than that rather contentious point, most other things are done equally. The house is cleaned every two weeks by someone, and usually to a high standard.

My husband and I divide it fairly evenly. Though, at this moment, the apartment is a picture perfect example of total chaos.

I rearrange quarterly if not more often. I don't know why but it REALLY annoys my husband.

Emergency laundry (i.e. Mom! I have to wear that shirt tomorrow!)
Grocery shopping
Most meals (he cooks on days when I'm not home, too busy, or sick)
Anything needing scrubbing (counters, sinks, toilets, bathtubs)

Him:
Laundry (everyone's)
Maintenance things (replacing light bulbs, making the fridge stop making that buzzing sound, backing up the server)
vacuuming/dusting
car maintenance/repairs

Kids:
Their rooms
Tidy up living room (it's all their crap strewn about anyway)
Set table/clean table after meals
Tidy up the bathroom (again, it's all their crap anyway)
Take out the trash
Pick up mail

hmmm. It varies. With 2 partners, what we do is random, but balanced. no tasks are mine or hers. we just keep a tally of who has contributed what so we stay at roughly 50% of our housework each. With another partner, I effectively do most of everything.

Actually, I'm the one bitching about things not getting done. (And then, yes, I'm the one who does what needs to be done - maybe not exactly as soon as it needs to be done, but eventually, things will get done.
