And that is the price you pay for being a sovereign being. A soldier who cannot think for themselves is worthless.

BTW, I was a soldier, and am very aware of the UCMJ. ;)

Still, how does this threadjack apply to the fact that my personal (armed) security trumps your belief that another will provide you with that security?

Individuals with weapons frighten me, that's what. At least with the army and police they have some sort of order going on, so it's not total anarchy.

In a wal-mart in arizona i saw a regular joe with a .44 on his hip.

that is the kind of stuff that is unnecessary and extremely dangerous.

Armed Individuals? Are not the forces you depend on for your defense composed of armed individuals?

I am going to guess here that you are a child and have not yet been exposed to the realities of adulthood.

Do you realize how much paperwork is involved to simply draw a weapon? If that cop were not affiliated with the police and was just an individual, there would be no paperwork involved. That's what I mean. Order and bureaucracy help prevent an Wild West mentality.

well i imagine you'd need blank computer paper to actually draw the weapon. maybe you need a couple more pieces if you mess up on the original, but that doesn't really mean a lot of paperwork is need to draw a weapon.

That's why I do it.

I've been carrying ever since my first handgun was gifted to me by our local chief of police.

New Kereptica: Since power is changed energy over time, an increase in power would mean, in this case, an increase in energy. As energy is equivalent to mass and the density of the government is static, the volume of the government must increase.

Some people like bees, that doesn't give them leave to carry bees around with them wherever they go. If someone next to me was carrying a jar filled with buzzing killer bees, I would be nervous. Guns are like that, only more dangerous.

The answer to trigger-happy idiots is not banning everyone from having guns. It is education. My dad took my to the shooting range as a kid, and I learnt early on that guns are not toys. Besides, the benefits of the right and necessity of self defense outweigh the cost of a few sensationalised cases. There will inevitably be violence in any society. If the police cannot respond in time, should you be defenseless?

Well, in England, the relative rate of murders and shootings etc is much lower, which I think is, at least in part, due to the lack of entitlement to dangerous weapons. I too know they are are not toys, I was a cpl in the RAF for four years, so I am pretty good when it comes to weapons.

It is an enumerated right I do not have to justify it.
Much like with Speech, it is an enumerated right, the speaker does not need to justify his speech, instead the govnerment must justify a restriction placed upon that speech.

Well, I probably could argue this on many levels, but ultimately, it comes down to this: My personal security, as provided by my ability to defend myself, up to and including the use of lethal force, trumps your false sense of security in others defending your well being.

Surely your false sense of security... trumps his/her false sense of security?

You're forgetting that depending on the total length of the firearm, more paperwork may be needed (a Remington 870 is going to take more paperwork than a Glock, as it's much longer).

Why? Unlike bees, firearms are inanimate objects. If I drop my Glock, it's not going to go off, but if I drop a jar of bees, who knows if/how many people might be stung when the jar shatters on the ground.

Somehow if this regular Joe has a security guard's uniform on him it is safe. Never mind his training was a 20 minute gun safety video with no range time.
Where as the regular Joe had to fulfill 8 hours of training and 2 hours of range time, with continuing training every 2 years.

Some how the uniform makes it more safe and makes the wearer require less training.
