It may not have been solely Aramaic.... writings are found retelling of him speaking in Aramaic but that does not mean it was all he spoke.

Very likely he also knew Hebrew (for praying) and Koinè Greek at least. Maybe even some Latin, enough to write "Romanos eunt domum".
But if he wanted to preach to the general public of Iudaea, he had to speak Aramaic.

Most of the people at that time knew Aramaic because it was 'a slum language' and many were poor.
