Yes!

First game I played when I was very young and barely knew any English. The last time I played it again was about 2 months ago - hasn't lost any of its charm. It's funny.

But my all-time favorite still is LOOM. Now that is a game I can never get enough of.

Sim City, Sim Ant, Sim Earth, Civilization, Pirates!, Battle Isle (1+2), History Line 1914-18, Worms, Axis & Allies, Driver, Driver: Parallel Lines, Panzer General, Epic40K Final Liberation, Chaos Gate, Birth of the Federation, Doom, Return to Castle Wolfenstein, Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory, Steel Panthers (1+2), Ghostbusters (c64), 1942 (c64), Kaiser (c64), Gearhead Garage, Indiana Jones (3+4), Day of the Tentacle, Space Quest, Starquest, Warcraft (1+2), Wing Commander (1-3), Privateer, Risk (1+2), ...

Mmh. Guess I did and do play a lot of stuff - but mostly, it's ancient stuff compared to when the games came out. Then again, I'm old. We got our first computer in 1990 (I think), so there.

I'm probably even older :) I had my first in 1979. I played a lot of games till 10 years ago. Suddenly it was over. From time to time I try out a new game and the graphics and FX are marvellous, but the game play sucks or is just a bad rip-off of the older games. I'm not attracted anymore to computer games, they become boring after 1 hour of playing. I played most of the games you listed as well.

You probably are! (I was born in '76)

I couldn't agree more with you!!! Give me an old game with crappy graphic but great game play and I'm hooked for hours. Give me a new game with great FX and stuff but bad (or even no?) game play and that's that then.

Heck, just the other week we played Pit Stop II on one of those joysticks with a built-in c64 and we were kids again.

Also, I've noticed that with every new installment of a game, it becomes more complex, less playable, less enjoyable, just too much. I used to play Sim City for days. Yesterday I installed Sim City 3000 and didn't know what was what. Same with newer Civilization games. If I have to read a manual as thick as a novel just to know how to play - that's no fun.

I'm from the summer of 69 :)

Yes, I have exactly the same feeling as you do.

I have already to study enough in life. If I want to play a game, I want to PLAY. :)

To be perfectly frank, most of the older games I've played have had thicker manuals and more complex for the sake of being complex than the newer games I've played. :meh:

4 pages and no one has mentioned Crono Trigger?

Epic fail.

It was entertaining, but not a great game by my standards.

I'm pretty down on RPGs in general, especially JRPGs, but this begs the question: what, pray tell, are your standards?!

I passed actual exams centered around Greek mythology because of this game.

Therefore, it earns all of my respect.

And it's one of those rare games that never tires me when I replay it constantly.

Plus, killing gods with a goatee just adds to the win, in my opinion.

I played Knightmare Chess for the first time the other day.

It was quite entertaining.
Venicilian: wow. Jesus hung around with everyone. boys, girls, rich, poor(mostly), sick, healthy, etc. in fact, i bet he even went up to gay people and tried to heal them so they would be straight.
The Parkus Empire: Being serious on NSG is like wearing a suit to a nude beach.
New Kereptica: Since power is changed energy over time, an increase in power would mean, in this case, an increase in energy. As energy is equivalent to mass and the density of the government is static, the volume of the government must increase.

Let's see...

I thought Dwarf Fortress was a great game, the First Resident Evil and Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War were also great.
Metroid Prime 3 was great, although the other two were not. They were good, just not great. Diver Down was great, for all of it's faults.

Can I slaughter all-powerful gods in chess?

I think not.

However, if it's animals that are playing, that makes it all the more entertaining.

Time Splitters 2.

The campaign mode wasn't all that but multiplayer and the challenges were awesome. It also had a burned character called Crispin, the sense of humour was right up my street.

Warhammer 40k...good strategy...convincing...

I'll still say no, just because I absolutely fail at chess, since I put off playing it as a child--ruining any hopes of ever succeeding at it.
