Here's one example of their heretical beliefs, "What does Baptism give? What good is it?

A. It gives the forgiveness of sins, redeems from death and the Devil, gives eternal salvation to all who believe this, just as God's words and promises declare."
-- Martin Luther, his Lutheran Catechism

That is heresy. The thief on the cross was never baptized, yet Jesus promised him paradise that day. Nobody in the Old Testament was ever baptized, but we read that Abraham "believed God," and it was counted unto him for righteousness (Romans 4:3). You get your sins forgiven by placing your faith in the Lord to forgive your sins, NOT by getting baptized.

Yes, Jesus built his church around Peter. That doesn't mean Lutherism is heresy. Lutherism rejected some of the teachings that the Catholic church INTRODUCED as it aged.

No, Jesus Christ did not build his Church "around" Peter. He built it on Peter. There is a huge difference, which makes Lutheranism heresy.

And, yes, it does mean Lutheranism is heresy.

I can only speak for Baptists, but, clearly youre mistaking his words. Luther is likely saying that this is a symbol of faith. Obviously Christ and God view it as important, and what type of Baptism are we talking about? Baptism by the Holy Spirit? or Water Baptism? Because they are 2 very different things.

The way other Catholics react to the heresy Lutheranism has nothing to do with this. You're a heretic, and Lutheranism is heresy.

It's not the fact that Jesus Christ built a Church that makes you a heretic. It's the fact the he built his Church on the first Pope, and you ignore that fact, and willfully practice heresy that makes you a heretic.

In 1517, Martin Luther published his 95 Theses On the Power of Indulgences criticising the Church, including its practice of selling indulgences. He was building on work done by John Wycliffe and Jan Hus, and other reformers joined the cause. Church beliefs and practices under attack by Protestant reformers included purgatory, particular judgment, devotion to Mary, intercession of the saints, most of the sacraments, and authority of the Pope.

SO where exactly in the Bible does it say there is a purgatory? where does it say we needed to be devoted to Mary? where does it say we must have 7 Sacraments??/ HMMM?? O.o HMMM??? nowhere! this is why they split!

You know nothing of doctrine.

I will say this once for you: Jesus Christ made Peter the Vicar of Christ upon Earth. Through Apostolic succession, the Papacy, by divine institution, enjoys delegated authority from Jesus over the entire Church; they enjoy the Primacy of Simon Peter.

Through Apostolic succession, the Primacy of the Bishop of Rome is confirmed.

The Pope is the Vicar of Christ upon Earth. Id est, the Pope is the representative of Christ upon Earth. That means he is in the place of Christ.

That is to say, the Pope has full, supreme, and universal power over the whole Church, a power, which he can always exercise unhindered.

Edit:
1. Simon Peter exercised full, supreme, and universal power over the whole Church.
2. The Papacy enjoys the Primacy of Simon Peter, through Apostolic succession.

3. Therefore, the Pope exercises full, supreme, and universal power of the whole Church.

Using the definition of "heresy," you are a heretic. That's how. Lutheranism fulfills the definition of a heresy. You believe in a heresy, which is what heretics do.

That, therefore, makes you a heretic. That's why I urge you to convert to Roman Catholicism.

I believe in Jesus, I believe in God. I've been a Lutheran for as long as I can remember, and go to Church on a regular basis. Yet I also believe in evolution, and love science.

Anyone else around here like me? Or am I simply an oddity/heretic/whatever the Hell you want to call it?
