your take on religion?

Postby Demen » Mon Sep 21, 2009 4:57 pm

my take on religion? well, one day, there was crazy leader who kept raping and pilleging(I spelt it wrong, so what?) so, one day, one random guy comes and says that if you don't rape and pillege, when you die, there is a big chocolate cake waiting for you. So, as this went on, people started wars on whether you get ice cream, cake, pie, or spray cheese if you don't rape and pillege. So, one day this guy named jesus comes and sais that you can have all of that if you don't rape, and pillege, so they nail him to a fucking cross. And that children, is religion.

Religion is an oak tree. It has many, many branches, and it's full of nuts.

Maybe I should have used the /sarcasm tag.

We have science to tell us how the world works, and laws to tell us how to behave. Religion is, therefore, unnecessary.

I mean, you can still believe in it if you want, but it's a bit like staying with Windows 95; it's obsolete, the world is slowly passing it by, and eventually none of your software will work on it anymore.

We're better off without it. Seriously, if we didn't spend have religion, we could be standing on Mars. It distracts people, and they say bad things about things like vaccines and other parts of science. Think- No religion =
o No Holocaust
o No Nazis
o No 9/11 or War on Terror
o No overcrowding problems
With the money we've spent on mosques, churches and all the like, we could be curing cancer. It's good to have faith, but have faith in a person, a friend, not a holy man up there, who takes way too much time. He's able, but not seemingly willing. I saw a news report, it was about a broom standing on the bristles in a store, no matter what. They thought there must have been some "holy spirit" in there. So, God has nothing better to do than to stand a broom? Christianity is communism. You have one man up there, who everyone looks up to, and loves and decides all the rules, and thinks everyone is equal in every way? Karl Marx would be proud. So yeah, those are my views.

Combine the two in a working mix, and you get Tangenaia.

Its more like religion once focused on the day to day world, and the gods were everywhere and everything. Then they set up organized families of gods and said they all live on a mountain, or in space. Then someone said "my god is the ONE TRUE GOD and your gods are LIES". His descendants then killed a bunch of people in modern day Israel. Eventually, a carpenter was born and they said he was the son of God, which got him killed. And then a merchant talked to God in a cave. Then someone came to the Idea that maybe if the old gods were a LIE maybe the new God was too. The religions all got together and decided to kill and persecute these people. ;)

  • Well, there are still the millions of others that the Nazis killed that probably didn't have anything to do with religion.
  • I don't understand where you got this one...
  • There could very well be a War on Terror or 9/11 without religion, perhaps one about race or culture.
  • I don't understand where you got this one...

Religion is bad sometimes, but I think you should actually choose some things that actually needed religion to happen.

Religion never was much good for anything, and now it's almost entirely a hindrance, but some people in this thread are a little... insane.

People always felt the need to answer to someone superior to them.. that's y we have systems based on hierarchy even today. Presidents, CEO's, Kings, Emperors, and all other "filth" that we call common folk r just there to worship their will. The idea of a God is just an idealistic notion that one can actually have a boss that doesn't scream and shout at them everyday, anc cares about them.. unless that person was bad, than they will burn in hell for eternity... oh yea, I've heard there r no cookies in hell so all u sinners don't get ur hopes up ;)
