You ignore the fact of population growth. They aren't saying we're going from 20% of the population having dementia to 40%, but instead 20,000 with a global population of 40,000 to 40,000 with a global population of 80,000, not to mention increased access to healthcare and diagnostics, particularly in countries like India and China.

So how the hell is it our problem, then? It's China's problem, and India's problem.

"Over the next 20 years, the numbers of people with dementia are anticipated to increase by 40 percent in Europe, 63 percent in North America, 77 percent in the southern Latin America ... and 89 percent in the developed Asia Pacific countries," said the report, from Alzheimer's Disease International.
"In comparison, the percentage increase is expected to be 117 percent in East Asia, 107 percent in South Asia, 134-146 percent in the rest of Latin America, and 125 percent in North Africa and the Middle East."
By 2010, an estimated 35.6 million people around the world will be living with dementia. The number is expected to hit 65.7 million in 2030 and 115.4 million in 2050.

I've heard the opposite, that the tumeric powder in curry can prevent cancer or cause it to ease. However, at the time it was in the context of prostate cancer, so maybe curry just shifts the cancer around a lot.

I prefer to go mad.

But at least you'll be able to remember why you're angry. The only thing worse than being angry is being angry and confused.
Correction: There is actually something worse than being angry and confused, and that's being angry and confused and wearing pants that are wet for some reason that you can't remember.

It is a global problem. The number of cases will be growing in developing countries not because there are actually more cases, but because they will be properly diagnosed. It isn't like dementia is suddenly going to disappear from the West.

True. What I posted is so contrary to my usual line of thought that I thought most people were going to get it.

In addition, I am one of those undiagnosed, uncontrolled, unmedicated insane people loose upon the world.

Is curry the cure, because there are lots of excellent curry restaurants where I live?

According to the article curry helps with memory loss and brain inflammation. It won't prevent it, but it helps.

It also gives you throat, stomach, esophagus and pancreatic cancer. It raises the level of agression. It maycause impotence and infertility...

This is a dangerous line of thought. This is like big brother thought crime shit. It should be avoided, what if someone in power decides that an opposing ideology is "unfit" for society. Maybe they think sexual desire is "unfit", or that homosexuality is "unfit", or atheism is "unfit".
