Actually, Democrats and Republicans are both discussing raising the minimum wage. I suspect that will happen before the election and that will most dramatically affect the south since a lot of Northern states have already raised it and more people in the south work for minimum wage.

There are, of course, tax cuts and other things to consider, but the minimum wage thing is actually targeted at improving conditions in the south and for many, many poor white people.

if that happens, I will pay a visit to Obama's private residence and worship him.
That would be fantastic, even if sad circumstances would cause it.

I don't claim to know where Obama stands; I'm not that well versed on economic ideology.

And, how has he "raped the national debt", precisely? I'd like visuals, please.

No, frankly, I pointed out I was looking for things both good and bad. Unfortunately, the President has no direct control over the pump. I did ask for things that he did that directly affect you.

However, I'm open to hearing your opinion. What policies did he specifically enact that have raised gas prices?

Uh, putting a near stop to offshore drilling and opposing Keystone isn't gonna help lower gas prices or foster independence from oil for our enemies will it? Exactly.

Given aggressive foreign policy a friendlier face that's harder to dislike I'd say  and he gave me a moment of hope that the US would finally get a somewhat closer to okay healthcare system, though that hope was shot down quite quickly.

Not from the US, for the record, but the OP said us foreign bastards could weigh in on this one.

As a Canadian, I feel he has brought back to the US a sense of respect. The President has a good head on his shoulders, especially in the realm of foreign policy. He has restored the US's standing in the international sphere, and instead of sabre rattling, and continuing the entire "them versus us" mentality of the Republicans and Geo. W. Bush, he understands the value of diplomacy and of working together with others to build a consensus.

Well done, Mr. President, I wish you all the luck in the world on your re-election bid.

as a big credit card user the financial reform bill has been of direct benefit to me.

they are no longer allowed to raise interest rates on existing balances. they can no longer pull tricks like changing the due date or changing the billing address--we used to have to check this kind of thing closely because they tried to pull that trick on us many times.

The same offshore drilling that wrecked the Gulf due to asshats in his oil business? I'm pretty sure we can forgive him on that one.

He got the debt so wired on Keynesian stimulants that it couldn't consent, took it back to the Lincoln Bedroom, whipped out his Presidential Powers, and then... well, this is a PG-13 forum. ;)
