This is quite possibly the worst thread I've ever seen on NationStates. The quality of posts in this place has really gone down the drain. Bring back Jolt!

He's still Prime Minister of the UK. Everyone knows that. Gordon Brown is a myth, perpetrated upon the unwary by terrorist apologists.

He gives after dinner speeches, tours countries for cash and tries to look like the good guy by promoting climate change prevention. If approved by the Lisbon treaty he may be invited to head the European council but it's highly unlikely. Even if he did he'd still have no power. Just because Gordon Brown wasn't elected, doesn't make decisions, isn't wanted and pretends everything's fine and dandy doesn't mean he hasn't got the top job. It just means he won't have it for long.

Retard, Ahdimmijabbercumstain never said he wanted to wipe israel off the map. If you haven't noticed, Iranians don't care much about Israel because they have their own problems in their backasswards country. I kind of wish some country wouyld wipe Israel off the face of the earth. I think that will solve a big portion of the problem-o in the middle east

Still, I'd rather have the average Gordon Brown over that whiny pre-pubescent prick David Cameron.

False.

Brown was elected by his constituents to represent them in Parliament, and was elected by the PLP to lead them. As he was thus the leader of the majority party, he was appointed as PM by the Queen. This is exactly what happened with Blair as well.

I quite like the way he speaks his mind and the fact that he's pretty funny but I wouldn't call him opposition. I've always had a soft spot for the Lib-Dems though.

Nick Clegg is essentially David Cameron, only without the whole "Party with a chance in Hell of taking power" aspect.

A couple things you people should know.

1. Tony Blair isn't the 3rd Antichrist, that one has yet to appear.
2. Israel is the only middle eastern nation that should have nukes.
3. We shouldn't bomb Iran, we should embargo them, destroy their economy and take away their nukes.
4. All of the above are true!

False.

Brown was elected by his constituents to represent them in Parliament, and was elected by the PLP to lead them. As he was thus the leader of the majority party, he was appointed as PM by the Queen. This is exactly what happened with Blair as well.

One comment could be considered false on a mere technicality that doesn't stand. The Conservatives were in power when Tony Blair became the Labour leader so I should be the one calling FALSE!

When the election was held in 1997, the British people did not elect Tony Blair as Prime Minister. They each individually elected their MP, leading to the PLP having the majority in the HoC. At this point Blair, as the Leader of the PLP, was appointed PM. This is exactly the same to what happened with Brown, except that the PLP were already the majority party when Brown became leader of the PLP.

So both were elected -- by their constituents and then by the PLP. Neither were elected by the general public. What's bullshit is to claim that Blair was elected and Brown was not.

Not exactly true. In 1997, everyone knew that a vote for a Labour candidate was a vote to have Blair as Prime Minister by proxy. There has been no such similar election for Brown.
