Teachers Making Gay Taunts?

Postby Anti-Social Darwinism » Sun Sep 20, 2009 10:13 pm

I don't know what the truth is in this because we have only the word of the student and his parents and little or nothing from the accused teachers. So, I hesitate to make any sort of comment on the actual case, but, if, indeed, the teachers are guilty of making statements to the young man, what should the penalty be?

If the young man, his parents and others are guilty, either through malice or through ignorance, of misrepresenting or outright lying about what was said, what should the penalty be?

My own opinion is that the teachers, if indeed guilty, should be fired and barred from teaching. If the young man and his parents and friends are misrepresenting or lying, whatever the reason, there should be a fine and possibly charges brought for making false accusations.

You can't put them on probation, since, well, they're teachers. It's a hard call on this one, but I'm going to have to say an apology to the child and perhaps a deduct in pay? I dunno, it's difficult to say and I feel sorry for the administration trying to come up with a penalty.

No legal penalty for "taunts," as having or expressing anti-Gay opinions is not a crime. However, some penalty from his employers might be in order (weather firing or a lesser penalty like a pay cut), as this is unprofessional and potentially disruptive conduct from a teacher.

Ignorance? None. Malice? Sued for slander.

"Our progress in degeneracy appears to me to be pretty rapid. As a nation, we began by declaring that "all men are created equal." We now practically read it "all men are created equal, except negroes" When the Know-Nothings get control, it will read "all men are created equal, except negroes, and foreigners, and Catholics." When it comes to this I should prefer emigrating to some country where they make no pretence of loving liberty -- to Russia, for instance, where despotism can be taken pure, and without the base alloy of hypocracy." - President Abraham Lincoln.

A lot of my Teachers in secondary school used to make fun of gays because back then it was considered a bit deviant (1985). In fact I remember one kid bringing an exchange student from Germany to class and the chemistry teacher (who was a retard) attempting a whole hour of stand up comedy about this kid and his German boyfriend. Oh how we were bored (he was shit at teaching chemistry too).

Funny thing is he's now a headmaster at some sort of Ubar progressive collegey thing. I often think about writing to the board of governors about the whole thing, but I am far too lazy. Still, Hypocrisy thy name is Chemistry teacher &c,
The kind of middle-class mentality which actuates both those responsible for strategy and government has little knowledge of the new psychology and organizing ability of the totalitarian States. The forces we are fighting are governed neither by the old strategy nor follow the old tactics.

Agreed, false claims upon teachers by students is way too common to make a call on this one...

I would absolutely believe that a teacher would make taunting or malicious comments focused on sexual orientation. I've known too many asshole teachers to deny the strong possibility. But frequent, on-going taunts? Maybe it's a difference of locale, but parents here call for reprimands the FIRST time something happens. There's obviously a lot to this story we don't know and probably never will. It sounds like they've handled it the best they can.

Doesn't sound malicious to me. I had an art teacher who was a bit like that. Caustic, but a pretty cool guy. Maybe the kid should get a sense of humour.

Well since young gay kids get victimised to the point of suicide quite often, the less the they get victimised the better.

You can have or express all the anti-gay opinions you want. But there is something to be said about having a captive audience such as a mandatory classroom setting.

A student can be suspended/reprimanded for harassment, and in all honesty, I'd expect a teacher to be held to a higher standard than students in this subject.

If this case has merit, I believe a dismissal is in order.

Shut up you sadist cup of shit.

Because of your type, children, based on their sexuality, are victimised daily, they are beaten literally bloody by their parents, beaten up and outcast at school all based on what they are born to like and dislike!

I personaly was abused physically at a catholic school, and held at knife point by one of the students, I was stabbed in the shoulder, abdomen and my shin and left without medical aid for 2 hours!

Don't you dare say what is and is not worthy of attention!

Getting beaten and stabbed is different from verbal assaults. They should all be punished by the law.

Aye, but a mixue of both can lead to a child going to the deep end in more than one way.

Why do they go out there and bring it on themselves. Do males really need to wear earringsand a dress, who they hell is going to know how they roll unless they announce to the world, which in my opinion, really is asking for it, especially in school.
You can't change the mentality of young boys. They love to pick on people who aren't like them to make themselves feel good and to show off to other people. You can say, everyone is equal till your blue in the face, the reality is, everyone is different and some people love to exploit that.

Praying aloud isn't a crime, either, but a teacher can't do it in the middle of a classroom. Public schools are government institutions. They are both professionally and legally forbidden from discrimination. Taunts directed at a specific group qualifies as discrimination.

That has to be one of the most patently untrue statements I've seen in... oh, hours, at least.

Listen, I honestly don't care if people want to hold opinions that some groups are bad or inferior in some way or another. That's their prerogative, whatever. And honestly, if I were in this kid's shoes, I wouldn't take legal action, but that doesn't mean there is no cause of action.

It's different when a teacher jokingly makes fun of a group (I've heard jokes about catholics, lutherns, liberals, conservatives (and that was from one teacher)) but the harassment is focused soley on one kid. I think it pushes past the "all in good fun" standard when you stop ridiculing everyone and focus on one kid.

Right...
The good old "they bring it on themselves" clause. Why don't we teach all students who are different in some way to be ashamed of themselves, that should solve the problem.

Make all concerned wear diapers and apologize publicly. I think that would pretty much take the heat off the guilty parties as they head for the closets.

I read the second part. That mentality comes from somewhere, it doesn't just randomly congeal in boys' minds. What about me? When I was a young boy, I never had this mentality.

You can't eliminate beliefs. Duh. Thats why we have a never ending stream of extremists who wish to harm the west. Thats why white supremacism is still living today. Thats why homosexuals are being bullied at school. People are always afraid of whats different. Teaching people these days to be tolerant is having no effect. At all. Period.
