The Arizonan thread

Postby Maryginia » Sat Apr 07, 2012 8:35 am

Well, I saw a thread about Californians so I thought I'd make one on Arizonans. Are your an Arizonan, have you ever/do you now live here, Were you born here, or have you visited even, what did you think of it/do you think of it? For me I live here, I was born in Maryland Lived here since I was 18 months old, Politically It's bad, Where I am geographically it can get up into the high hundred teens in the summer, A dry heat is like a furnace,so everyone knows, I'm lucky to b in one of the good high schools, and for our three main University's we have Arizona state, which most regard as a horrible school, with booze, drugs, and sluts then you have University of Arizona which is considered a ,uch better school, and they have a very good med school there, and then you have Norther Arizona University, somewhere between the two, but with more weed, Although they do have a very good Athletic training and a very good Criminology programs there.

Personally, I do think that actually, that is part of the reason, for the bad politics, others at least where I am in Arizona probably not, due to part of them being the permanent snowbirds or kids of them.

The "old angry white man" shtick is more propaganda than fact. The national media purposely confuse the issues Arizona faces. A large percentage of the population is Hispanic, and many who immigrated legally want to see the same standards upheld, but they are portrayed only as "white racists who want to keep the brown man down" by media. On and on it goes.

In some parts of the state such as the Tuscon area, yes that is the case it is just propaganda, up near where I am it's not all propaganda.

I live in rural Arizona and, here, the occasional retired snowbird is the only ray of political hope. The redneck/cowboy/don't need no damn government shtick is so thick here you can't slice it with a hunting knife. I understand the free-market theory, but all I see are a lot of beer-drinking, gun collecting fools living off the dole with no regard for education and blaming other people for all their problems. I happen to work in retail and the first of very month when the government checks comes out we are absolutely slammed. But don't let anyone know you're a Democrat or you'll end up like Gabrielle Giffords. Other than politically, it's a beautiful state. A great place to spend you life just wandering around exploring...

Believe me You don't want to go there, You only need a 2.5 GPA to get accepted, and you usually only go there if you can't get in anywhere else.

Every state has those kinds of schools.

Well I have been to Arizona a few times before and it seems like a pretty nice state. I have always wanted to see the Grand Canyon among other spectacular sights in Arizona. Sure it gets hotter there than Texas but at least it is a dry heat unlike here so I guess that is a plus. I also like their anti-illegal immigrant policies.

"The Nixon campaign in 1968, and the Nixon White House after that, had two enemies: the antiwar left and black people. You understand what I'm saying? We knew we couldn't make it illegal to be either against the war or black, but by getting the public to associate the hippies with marijuana and blacks with heroin, and then criminalizing both heavily, we could disrupt those communities. We could arrest their leaders. raid their homes, break up their meetings, and vilify them night after night on the evening news. Did we know we were lying about the drugs? Of course we did."—former Nixon domestic policy chief John Ehrlichman

I love them. I just think they should only apply to citizens and legal immigrants who earned it.

"Earned it." This coming from someone who was granted citizenship at birth.

Obviously not.

I just think they should only apply to citizens and legal immigrants. People who earned it.

Border controls and immigration restrictions of any sort are an absolute betrayal of the principles of the Revolution. The Founders recognized that liberty was a universal entitlement not contingent upon being from the right side of an arbitrary and morally meaningless line on a map.

So no, you apparently are not a fan of the principles upon which this country was founded.

This is why I'm a liberal--because liberals, unlike conservatives, don't hate America.
