Really, people, I know she's a survivor, I know she's had a tought life, but wtf does she know about anything? Mistletoe extract, alternative therapies - how does this differe from quackery?

My sister swears by herbs and crap for everything. I swear I can almost beat her to death sometimes, all the while screaming "will the herbs fix this? WILL THEY?"

How about you just get along with her instead of immediately resorting to unanticipated violence ?

I don't mind this shit as a "complimentary therapy" as long as it's not going to interfere with the medicines......and yeah, I totally accept people's right to fuck up their own health care, but like don't tell other people you can cure cancer with tea. Seriously.

But... it's green tea with ginseng! Certainly, that helps...?

I think that herbal and holistic medicine is great for preventative treatment. I think it has many benefits. I even think it can be used in balance with "Western" medicine. A few things do need to be remembered, however. A) holistic medicine is not, in and of itself, treatment. This herb, this tea, this root...even if they contain similar or identical chemicals as the chemotherapy, do not contain them in nearly high enough doses, and not in a manner in which they are controlled properly. B) ones doctor MUST be informed of any and all suppliments being taken, as well as large dietary changes while on chemo. One does not want to play with chemical interactions if one can avoid it.
