Why would he be indebted? The far right Republicans will vote for him no matter what unless someone important (read: not Nader or Paul) runs for a third party. He might have to worry about the primary in four more years, but that doesn't mean that he will slide all the way to the right. Hell, if he does well as president major Republican contenders may stand aside to keep from fucking up a good thing.
ASB has long addressed this in talking about how the Far Right would rather see a Democrat then someone they classify as a RINO be president, thus he if he moves left he will either face a strong primary challenge during reelection followed by the Far Right not coming out to vote for him in the reelection. As best seen in the elections of 1976 and 1992 where the Far Right decided to abandon Ford and Bush I as they didn't find them Conservative enough.
