I fully support the idea of eugenics.

As do I actually, but only around certain aspects. Not appearances, but to actually better the human genome. One of the few instances where I actually think the Nazi's may have been on to something.

Quite. Though, I only think it's feasible to do it once we have the ability to determine exactly the consequences of euthanasia or sterilization of an individual on a genetic basis.

I do not support eugenics on the grounds that I don't see how a bunch of corpses-in-training staggering around with heads full of snot could possibly improve on nature in any way at all. And when I look at what passes for "improvements" in the modern world, I agree with myself. Eugenics is nothing more than the science of fucking ourselves up even faster. A world full of Jenny McCarthys is NOT what we need. It really isn't.

I watch TJ, Thunderf00t, HTWW, DrinkingWithBob, Crowder, antybu86, Alex Jones--I'm a big internet vlogger guy, I try and go all around with it.

And I've heard of the Distressed Watcher thing, I read it in the comments on one of his videos once if I recall correctly.

It sickens me how ignorant people can be to doom their children in such ways over misinformation and idiotic statements.

They can't even decide that the "risk" as you pointed out of autism is better than the likelihood of dying from things like measles.

These people have never lived in a world without vaccines. I suspect they don't even know that the diseases in question are actually fatal and contagious. They have no clue what life was like before the vaccines were developed.

Yeah, considering how lethal some of these diseases could be, I can't see how anyone could accept the risk of them returning on the basis of unfounded evidence, let alone the millions still dying worldwide from these diseases because of similar opposition to vaccines in the developing world. But then again, there are no bounds to human ignorance...

To be honest, though, a lot of them are just attempting to free-ride on herd immunity, which is really pretty twisted because it apparently shows they have no problem with others "getting" autism despite their strenuous objections about their own children. Perhaps if they saw or experienced some of these diseases firsthand it might knock some sense in to them...it's easy to dismiss them as trivial when you've been protected from them by decades of dedicated work by doctors and scientists.

Let's ignore all the mountains of evidence that shows no link between autism and vaccines for a second and assume, just for the sake of argument, that these vaccines really do cause autism. What's worse, honestly, your kid getting autism or your kid dying of what could have been an easily preventable disease? Honestly, if you have to think about that last question, you're probably not fit to be a parent.

TJ has said that he doesn't really want to continue arguing with HTWW after he met with him in real life and saw that HTWW was a really compassionate person.

Well, in their fantasy land they forget how high child mortality was back before vaccination (IIRC, it was as high as 4-5% in the 60's) and how awful some of these diseases are even if they're not dangerous.

It's still deadly. I heard all about it on the tv machine this morning on another swine flu report. The regular "seasonal flu" apparently kills or contributes to the deaths of up to 30,000 Americans every year, and hospitalizes up to 90,000, if I remember correctly.

True. At least we haven't regressed too far and resumed the old fashioned way of dealing with the disabled kids that involved leaving them on some hillside to die...

But it's still nothing like before.

Actually, according to the doctors on the tv this morning, it pretty much is. The most deadly flu on record was the Spanish Influenza pandemic of 1918, and according to this morning's report, to this day epidemiologists do not understand why that outbreak was so virulent. Spanish flu killed millions in a single year, but leaving out that one, apparently the numbers we see today for flu deaths are comparable to numbers from earlier decades.

But the thing is that even though flu viruses are typically not that dangerous, there is no guarantee that one won't be again, since the viruses mutate so rapidly that no human population will ever achieve full immunity to the flu. With other diseases, you survive it once, you're immune from then on. With some, if you survive it, you'll have immunity to other similar diseases -- hence the first protection against smallpox was innoculation with the much less dangerous cow pox bacteria. Not influenza though, because each season's virus is so different from the previous one. Hell, I remember one year in NYC (1987, I think), there were 7 distinct strains of flu going around, so different from each other that getting one gave no immunity to the others. I was sick for 7 months straight and ended up with a secondary bronchitis that lasted more than 20 years. But at least I didn't die. I think the only reason we have not see a repeat of 1918 is pure dumb luck.

This is why, even though swine flu will likely blow over as little more than another rough flu year, I am glad that fear of it is teaching people to wash their hands and cover their mouths when they cough.

I'm just speculating. But it could be because of the miracles of hygiene and nutrition. Also, not having just fought WWI may have helped the old immunity system.

The funny thing is, the 1918 flu pandemic is blank in the UK consciousness.
The kind of middle-class mentality which actuates both those responsible for strategy and government has little knowledge of the new psychology and organizing ability of the totalitarian States. The forces we are fighting are governed neither by the old strategy nor follow the old tactics.
