That's bullshit and you know it. If anything, men are disadvantaged.

Who gets all the money in a divorce? Women.
Who can scream rape and ruin your life? Women.
Who is obligated to pay for the dinner at a date? Men
Who is obligated to buy their partner nice things? Men
Who is obligated to pay support for the child in a divorce? Men
Who always gets custody of the child in a divorce? Women
Who decides when the couple can / cannot have sex? Women

I'm not saying women are inferior to men, but god damn it FST, your arguments are completely flawed. Perhaps 60 years ago, they would be valid points. But now? No. Get over it, you are not automatically an oppressor if you have something protruding out of your pelvic area.

Having made those positive assertions and used the word "always," I assume you are prepared to back them up with facts and figures. And remember, you said "always." Take your time, be accurate.

As for the things under your spoiler, the plural of "anecdote" is not "data."

I think it's our moral duty to bend over backwards in order to help people who have been historically oppressed. If this means a few innocent men go to prison in order to greatly reduce rape, doesn't the end justify the means?

The end never justifies the means. The means must justify itself. Hitler had a grand idea, create the perfect race. No imperfections, no deformities. His means, however, could not be justified, and, therefore, his end couldn't happen because the means had no justification.

Always was the wrong wording, my apologies.
But it is most of the time, just look at recent court documents of divorces involving parents in your area.

The images under my spoiler were not intended to be a representation of the entire female gender, but rather something to show that women are not always the "oppressed ones".

The first instance that comes to mind is a certain Florida law, where if there is a call about domestic violence, the police are required to arrest the man regardless of circumstance.

So Florida I guess.

If you don't mind alligators, old people and Quebecois.

EDIT: Not that I'm of the camp "Oh, women have it so easy!". Just that society has obvious issues with both genders that needs to be worked out and while one has historically been in a position of power, it doesn't mean that one is more oppressed than the other. We have a lot of issues that need to be worked out.

I mostly made that post to mock FST's "male privilege" claim, as most men would have the same reaction to that as most women would have when I suggest they benefit from "female privilege"

Most of the female privilege in America comes in the form of its court system. Where Jurors are more likely to pardon women on a sympathy plea ("He beat me! He deserved to die!") than men, almost as a process sentence women less harshly, send women to lower security prisons, and well, what isn't stacked in their favor in the civil courts?

Oh, no. I'm just saying that our society has its own inherent societal issues with gender that it really needs to work out and I don't think it's the fault of any gender in particular. I don't think the "woman" is bearing down on man, either.

But yeah, I really don't like getting into that debate myself.

No, let me explain. The system in the OP is the "Yes Model" according to the article. The proposal suggested in the article IS actually similar, but it's called the "Negotiation Model". It's just a better phrased, better thought out (and not crazy) model from the system in the OP and it's actually decently similar.

Read the article, will you?
