This will either degrade into a "what opposition is there/GO VEGAN@!!#111" discussion, if you'd call it that, but I'll try.

I really haven't made a decent thread since the Pledge one, most topics I find are either already discussed on other threads too much, aren't of major concern, or aren't anything to really "discuss" to a great extent. And it seems like most of the good topics have been taken away, and my fear of getting dozens of posts linking me to another thread with the exact same subject OP makes me skeptical to post any thread of my own discussing any form of opinion whatsoever.

But I'm taking a risk here, in saying cannibalism isn't at the top of most NSGer minds.

And I'm not scrolling through tons of previous posts and threads, nobody can make me. Disclaimer: Exclude Jesus, the ghost of Harrison, and Melkor the Unchained, if that's even spelled right, which it never is.

So, let me stop typing to myself (teh internetz equivalent of talking to myself) and get on with it.

As many of you know, after a thread concerning [http://forum.nationstates.net/viewtopic.php?f=20&t=13901&hilit=cannibalism&start=50]a global warming solution[/url], I decided to jokingly bring up cannibalism. After a while, however, I almost kind of got swept into it being acceptable for solving many problems--global hunger, economic struggles, overpopulation, "global warming," and so on.

Of course then I woke up, the dream ended.

In all honesty, I don't believe cannibalism to be an acceptable thing. Perhaps in truly desperate times, one can resort to such matters as is common in last resort tactics in situations where you have to think outside normal means (from what I understand) and perhaps under situations of mental confusion, it is more comprehensive. But in any other case, I don't see it as "ethical" by my standards.

However, it occurs naturally amongst other species I believe, and I always try to be on top of shit when it is of disputed human "nature," comes to debate, and is found in the natural world. (homosexual behavior, fetishes, cross species sexual intercourse, etc.)

So my question to you is this, is it moral/ethical? Should it only be practiced under dire circumstances? If a religion permits it, does freedom of religion come into play? (If the country said religious-based cannibalistic actions take place in has said freedom)

Where are the lines drawn? Does the fact that it appears amongst other species play a role?

What do you think?

Another reason I woke up early--I realized you'd need more people than would be willing to put themselves up to be eaten.

Perhaps I can find it moral if the people involved are consenting (one of them to eat human meat, the other consenting to be eaten). Otherwise, no.

That's not cannibalism, it's called Organ Transplant. Cannibalism is when you CONSUME the flesh of the dead.

Also, can someone explain to me how wanting to eat the flesh of a Human Being, even one willing, is morally acceptable and not due to some sort of mental illness/defect?

Cannibalism is only acceptable because of the massive human over-populataion. If you do choose to canibalize, make sure the people you are eating died for that purpose, and that You eat as many people as possible.
