Could be a hairless sloth. But sloths still live in trees, not on lake shores. They would intentionally needed to have killed it or knocked it out, and then brought it to the lake. Why?

There are trees on lake shores. Perhaps it was on a rotten branch and fell into the lake. What seemed like an attack to the children was in fact the hairless/shaved sloth climbing out of the lake.

Nope. If aliens come to have a chat, we'd nuke them before they made any twatty demands. For The Best.

Eyeless? Looks more like its eyes are closed than it lacks them altogether.

its branch might have fallen into the water. Or it may have been trying to escape a predator.

I doubt that photons by themselves could achieve a complex enough structure to be called "life".

And I think there was a Clarke story about a radiation being that was killed by a radar satellite.

Well if they don't, we still have powers such as fire, shitty weather which is cold and would make them leave, and also lead and concrete if they actually are made of radiation.

That was more of a retorical question, but I apriciate the answer. I do think it's a sloth, but it's in a weird place, that's all. And the hairlessness is strange, but explainable. It's probably just coincidence that it happened to be both hairless, and in the water.

You know, the last time I used that excuse ("It's probably just coincidence that I happen to be both naked and in your swimming pool"), I got rocks thrown at me as well.

It does, except for the scaly skin part. I would doubt, however, that the disease would present exactly the same in humans and sloths. The question now becomes, is a sloth able to get it?

Looking back on it, the face doesn't look like a sloth's very much. Although the vulture-eaten after picture is definitely a sloth corpse.

I'm starting to think this is a hoax, as the first picture conveniently cuts off the distinct sloth claws.
