I only read the first and last pages but LOL.

This thread's understanding of science seems to have come directly from Michael Bay.

As I have just stated, it was a general summary of how it is. Please do not discredit my knowledge, I just wanted to make sure that anyone could understand what I am saying.

This has nothing to do with genetics, so don't even try.

Not that simple.

No no no, don't you see? We're dealing with the first ever sentient bee on NationStates! How else do you think he would think humans use pheromones as primary modes of social communication. Think about how much effort it would take to translate a waggle dance into sentences, let alone how long it's taking him to type out his posts! It's a fascinating look into the cultural and social lives of pheromone-producing insects.

So tell us, Valourium, what's bee society like? With an almost all female population, I imagine your modes of sexuality must be quite different.

He got the words "pheromone" and "hormone" mixed up. We should probably relax. :P

Ugh, you are a typical humanist. All beings have pheromones, whether or not it is very clear. That is natural biology. We have tools, intricate artificial shelter, and complicated theories/views on life and the Universe, but that does not change the fact that we are technically animals. Not animal in the sense that we are "wild," but in the sense that we are biological creatures that do not conduct photosynthesis.

Well, yes, it is primarily hormone, your are correct. If you ever find any of my posts on another forum where homosexuality was discussed, I primarily talk about hormones, but a long conversation I had earlier made me think of pheromones, and I have just got home from walking about 4 miles, had a hour break, then walked 4 miles again. So please expect me to make mistakes. Also, I am a human.

What does being a humanist have to do with it? Do you mean 'anthropocentric'? In which case, no, I'm not being anthropocentric.

As a biologist-in-training, this is news to me. Care to cite the appropriate journal articles and peer-reviewed research?

I agree. What does this have to do with pheromones?

The word's "speciesist". A humanist is someone whose ethical system is based on human values rather than divine or supernatural matters. You sure do have problems with getting your definitions mixed up.

by the way i'd like express my astonishment that what apparently started as a topic about homosexuality is now a discussion on animal bio-psychology

"Pheromone" is the wrong word to use and I'd challenge the phraseology of "chemical imbalance" as a tad insulting, but you're 100% right. This thread was mostly hypothetical, though.

I'm sorry, I was not trying to be insulting at all, I was trying to use proper terminology. Actually, one of the reasons I'm so draconian when it comes to religion is because of how they persecute homosexuals. I am not, but many of my friends are, and they are good people.

I'm very impressed. It must have taken you ages to do that. You weren't even once tempted to use your wings?

Also, I am a human.

That's exactly what a bee who was trying to convince us she was human would say.

Please, just give me a break, I've had a long day of walking... and walking... and more walking, and I'm having some trouble thinking straight. Heck, I had difficulty spelling "pheromone" when I first got on. I should probably be sleeping, but I just got back from all the walking I mentioned, and to sleep sounds to boring.
Also, you are right, I should not have said "humanist." Besides, even though I am human, I am appalled by the belief that we are better simply because of what we make and think of.

Genetic modification of living or pre-born persons should only be utilized when a sever mutation or genetic disability is present.

Even then, I wouldn't support it in all cases.

You're right, it isn't that far. Heck, I go on runs that are at least half of that often. What I'm trying to get at is that walking when it's late, such as now, can be tiring, depending on how much. It also doesn't help me that I figured out that I could have gotten from here to there and back much faster if I would've juts known about another street that I didn't think about until I was already back here.
Also, the mistakes I am making when I try to make a point is also sort of due to the fact that I was sort of ticked off when I saw the title "Gay Gene." That may have just clouded my thoughts.

Transgender individuals' alternate gender identity is very much a part of 'who they are.'

I may not fully understand them, but hating them is counter-productive.
