l mean, I'm a Christian, and I find the concept of discrimination against homosexuals or finding homosexuality sinful ridiculous. It's mentioned in like, three verses! Two of which are in Leviticus, which was a Jewish code of laws, and one was said by Paul, who never actually spoke with Jesus, but who was influenced by him, according to Scripture.

Plus, it's in direct contradiction with...oh, I don't know, 80% of Jesus's teachings? The most important part of the Bible?

So yeah, seeing homosexuality as evil is absolutely silly. Wanting to stamp it out is ridiculous. You may not participate in it if you find it sinful, but why should the people who don't follow religion have to follow those rules? That's oppressive and frankly anti-biblical.

Disapproval of homosexuality is ingrained in the very fundaments of American culture, and attempting to eradicate it without fundamentally changing the culture itself first is futile.

Cultures change all by their little selves, even in societies that try to prevent this from happening. But we're not to that part of the argument yet. You still haven't justified your self-assumed authority to dictate the nature of others' DNA. You can't get to step two until you finish step one, and step one is explaining why you have even a shadow of a right to go digging around in other peoples' genetic code through mandatory gene alteration regimens. Seeing as how your argument appears to be primarily rooted in the long dead disease model of homosexuality, I'm betting you've got nothing and are just praying no one will notice.

I find it absolutely hilarious that you live under the illusion that there is any one thing which can be called an American identity. Ignoring the fact that this country's culture is comprised of the amalgamation of its sub-groups' identities is nonsensical at best. You are going to sit there and tell me that the United States isn't composed of hundreds, if not thousands of distinct sub-cultures, the collective of which creates the whole? You're defending something that doesn't even exist.

I already explained to you what it is we're pursuing when we talk about equality. Looks like it didn't sink in, so I'll explain it one more time. It's about equality of opportunity. We who advocate for equality aren't trying to say that all people are the same, we're saying that people should all have an equal chance to participate in society and have an equal chance to enjoy its benefits. In order for that to happen, people of various ethnic backgrounds, religious backgrounds, racial backgrounds, sexual orientations, gender identities, and so on must be able to compete for jobs/promotions, purchase food/shelter, and so forth on a level playing field.

All people should be able to rest assured that their person is safe from physical assault, that their character is protected from slander, that public services will be rendered to them in an equal portion. If you still don't understand what we're talking about when we say we're pursuing equality after having read this, at least have the courtesy to stop talking as though you do.

"Pheromone" is the wrong word to use and I'd challenge the phraseology of "chemical imbalance" as a tad insulting, but you're 100% right. This thread was mostly hypothetical, though.
