When I was younger I used to do that but now I have work that stops me from gaming 18 hours a day and eating at weird times

This will be popular.

Well, the headline bit at any rate. It could never work, there aren't enough teachers in the entire country with the knowledge required to do this. Unless you were giving very condensed lessons which would be counter-productive.

Why, particularly, Aukland? Like, why isn't this a general thing? Is it something to do with the Treaty?

(Sorry for ignorance of NZ history, but this doesn't seem to be something easily Wiki'd.)

The Board that has proposed this idea (on behalf of Maori, it appears) is part of the Super City so they are limited in scope to Auckland. The Board's existence itself is controversial as they are unelected but have a position in the council, which is what the Super City is. Naturally it exists because of the Treaty.

I have a Belgian brother in law and he says that flemish is their national identity whether you are of dutch or french origin. Why cant we apply that here? he speaks fluent german dutch (comes from the dutch side of belgium. lueven i think) and english, some french and a little spanish but not much. Fiercely flemish he is he speaks to his kids in flemish. what use is flemish in this day and age i ask? if not to instill a sense of identity.

An earlier idea was much better. Maori must be offered but taking it is not mandatory.

WTF? Liberal Democrats are running for my local council.

They're unlisted. I don't know if we're going to have a libertarian revolution.

Mostly because the only thing councils can do is to do with planning applications, and his main platform is slashing "green and red tape". First hand experience of that nonsense.

I was more talking about their general policies not just what they can do in council

I seem to recall that that feature (which is, let's face it, pretty offensive to Islam) was filmed deceptively - the actors didn't know it was about Mohammad, and the producer dubbed the offensive lines in afterwards - and also that the producer used a number of fake names to produce the film.

Frankly, as someone not terribly sympathetic towards Islam, I can actually get their grievance here: the film is horribly offensive and over-the-top, and views like an anti-Islamic propaganda piece as well as denigrating the central figure of Islam (Mohammad, whom the religion claims to have been the final prophet before the Messiah) at every turn.

I do not support the rioters - violence against other Australian citizens or law enforcement officials is not appropriate - but I do understand their anger and - on this occasion - agree that the film is a deliberately nasty piece of attack propaganda aimed at Islam, not criticism of Islam.

Short version: I condemn both those idiots marching and the propaganda piece that set them off.
Fuck it all. Let the world burn - there's no way roaches could do a worse job of being decent than we have.

How predictable. The Green Left cries police brutality and ignores the messages and motives of the protestors and rioters, Andrew Bolt uses it as evidence that multiculturalism has failed "we let them in and now they threaten us".

Balance is and sensible thought is way too much for ask for right?

Yes.

I kind of assumed that people who decided to live here would respect freedom of speech and the like, not call for head-chopping of people who insult their religion. Alas, I am wrong.

Meanwhile, football finals. Much more important than boring riots in such unimportant places as Sydney, right?

The Dragons are out. I don't care anymore.

So long as Melbourne don't win. Or Manly if it can be helped.

The other game doesn't matter.
