We have this thread, or some variant thereof, every other week. I always have trouble summing up my political beliefs, but on this occasion, I have a new plan to sum them up more easily; I'm a High Tory traditionalist conservative but with elements of environmentalism and moderate socialism. Yay, I got it down to twelve words!

I'm not sure I follow your comment about the poll, though I must point out that it is possible to combine certain Conservative values such as strong community a morality with Socialist collectivism and egalitarianism. For example, religious socialist movements are often socially conservative. So-called Disraelian or 'One Nation' Conservatism could be described as a sort of Conservative Socialism as well.

The only excuse for thinking that is if you're Glen Beck.

National Socialism isn't a well defined concept, in the West it's obviously associated with Nazism. I view it as countries with less exposure to the European theatre of WW2 do... i.e. Patriotic Socialist. No racism, chauvinism, anti-Semitism or whatever
