As for the topic, one could certainly argue that religion is a mental illness, if you accept that religion is disconnected or tangential to reality. If you don't you're unlikely to argue that religion is a mental illness.
As such I would call religion something, though mental illness is perhaps too strong a word.

Technically... Yes. Babies are not fully 'all there'. But most of them can become so.

Of course, I do have a problem with the whole 'Babies are born without religion so that means religion isn't real' argument because babies are also born without knowledge of math, law, morals, or ice cream, and yet most would say those exist.

Yes, but they are all human social constructs, used to explain the world. (Or regulate, or give diabetes too, whatever). So religion is real, but it's made up. Like math.
