1: The ideologies are the problem, because they convince people to die for the cause of those ideologies. And unlike political ones, which offer gains which will you will see for 60 years at most before you die, religious ones convince you that if you die for the cause you will gain for eternity.
2: Dawkins does not need a scapegoat. He started out simply atheist because he found that religion was incompatible with evolution. Then he observed many different things which made him go against religion.

Because politics never lead to stuff like National Socialism, which definitely never lead to a war that killed 2.5% of the entire human population. Definite improvement there.

People can't be blamed completely for this. They are indoctrinated and pressured and threatened and controlled by things out of their control. Which reminds me of today's disappointing lecture where in my Core humanities world history class we were supposed to be discussing the Bible instead it was an atheist circle jerk with the professor basically going over a literal list of the things he didn't like about it and laughing about it and the rest of the class joining in as well with me having to correct a multitude of wrong points my classmates had made since apparently they didn't really do the reading. As for religion killing people the truth is it doesn't take Christianity for example the largest religion on the planet and look at the words of Jesus does Jesus at any point advocate murder, the answer is of course not, and many of these so-called holy wars were really fought for primarily secular reasons.

Oy, you don't seem to understand the Bible, Jesus never advocated killing anyone he even saved a woman from being stoned to death who was known to be an adulteress despite Old Testament law, which while it doesn't mean he approves of adultery or any of the other sins he told the men gathering to stone her "So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her." John 8:7 So since we are all sinners we have no right to kill another person for sinning.

look the problem is not religion or science its accepting the fact that people will always have a different view of everything in this entire universe.
