That's why you camouflage your house, duh! I mean you'll be living in a shack anyways.

Some countries don't make you pay property taxes if you live in rural places. India, for example, allows one to opt-out of paying property tax on non-attached dwellings if the user provides or forgoes their own road, security, fire containment systems, etc. Of course, those living in shacks aren't taxed because they aren't proper "legal" dwellings that anyone really "owns".

Sounds awesome :) Know anywhere else that does that?
No. My friend's parents grew-up in a relatively well-off Indian family and he told me how the property taxes worked over there, that's how I knew about it. But if you're middle-class in the West, you can afford to be a nobleman in India. The only trouble would be finding a large amount of uninhabited land for sale. I don't think India has much of that. Maybe Africa? That's a pretty unstable place to be. If you're white, some dictator might decide to confiscate your land. Or your hermit hideout might become a rebel base.

I thought about that too, but then I remembered that deserted islands in the South Pacific are typically used for military testing purposes. I don't think you're up for a tan caused by a bomb's heat radiation.
