Yeah, it was great in the 60's when the University of Michigan in Flint denied my mother tenure because she "had a husband who could provide" for her, and so it was better to give the spot to a less qualified man with less experience so that "he'll be able to provide for his family".

And then there was the marital rape.

Yeah, those were the days.

So let me get this straight, according to your own logic. The EPA has no ability to regulate pollution, am I hearing you correct? Because clearly the government has no ability to control what companies do or don't do within their own borders. Do you think you are being clever with such a stupid argument?

I don't know, maybe you'd like to explain how outsourcing and illegal immigration are still problems, if the government has the private sector well under control?

Do the words liberalization and Neoliberalism mean anything to you? I've stopped taking you seriously at this point by the way, because you don't seem to know how regulatory environments effect the decisions of entities like corporations.

That's fine, I never took you seriously in the first place. You are completely self-contradictory. First you argue that the government has control over patterns in a globalized economy largely beyond any one nation's control, and now you're telling me that trends towards liberalization and neoliberalism keep a government from *gasp* exercising control over its economy.

Corporate taxes I think, plus its a hell of alot cheaper to manufacture, etc over in China and India for various reasons.

Not sure if you're saying its okay with you if we outsource all our jobs....

Manufacturing jobs are actually returning to the US in anticipation of China's bubble bursting and thanks to China's lack of skilled workers. Furthermore, are you saying paying workers next to nothing, nonexistent safety standards, propping up an authoritarian government, and environmental devastation are good things?

Actually I was comparing the respective environmental situations.

I'll cut right to the chase with the job market:

Production went overseas because it was cheaper to produce overseas. No amount of government policy will change that.

Well first of all, I think I'd have to explain to you how trade agreements work, not to mention tariffs, labor law, corporate law, and a whole host of other things. Since you seem to be more interested in tilting at windmills than in having an actual discussion I'm going to suggest you give it one more try before I just ignore you outright.
