Hittanryan wrote:What, did you miss the balanced budget amendment? Cutting spending during a recession? The destruction of Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security? Unilateral, aggressive foreign policy? You haven't exactly explained how these things would be good for the US at this point in time.

Furthermore, the Republicans' policies have been proven not to work at all. Businesses recently flat-out stated that lower corporate taxes wouldn't convince them to hire more people. You don't hire people for the hell of it, you hire when the market is right. Deregulation allowed the financial sector to take huge gambles on subprime mortgages that eventually came crumbling down around us. Lower taxes on the rich are one of the many Republican ideals that contribute to the deficits. Spreading democracy through invasion and occupation doesn't work. Consistency isn't a virtue when you're consistently wrong.

I already responded to the balanced budget amendment, you must have missed it. We aren't in a recession anymore, and yeah let's become Greece great idea. You mean people might actually have to rely on their families again? Perish the thought, why in only the last 5000 years of recorded human history people managed to get by without them. Unilateral aggressive policy, not seeing it, Iran isn't getting invaded.

Yup, democrats suck on social policy and economic policy, republicans just suck on economic policy. Pretty crappy choice I've got.

LOL. Comparing the US to Greece on any level is asinine. It shows how little you know about state finance, and thus how little say you ought to have in policy.

Iran isn't being invaded because we don't have Santorum in the white house. Republicans suck on everything, especially in airport bathrooms.

Yeah, conditions were so great before the creation of the welfare state that we decided to just shit all over everyone by creating programs to help the poor, because we knew it would piss off upstanding, righteous citizens like yourself. It's not like anybody was dying of famine before the welfare state.

Nope. Nobody ever starved to death when they sacked up and begged their poverty-stricken parents for the 0 assistance they could possibly provide.

Actually I did, every state must balance it's budget.
We're nowhere near Greece

Yeah we've got a few more good decades before the shit hit's the fan.
your views on poverty sound like something from the 1800s.

And yours are from 1984

Not really, Iran isn't getting invaded and Obama's running around carrying out extra-judicial assasinations on US citizens and supporting coups in Honduras. Or did you miss those things?

I have yet to see any actual evidence or arguments in any of your posts. Mostly generic ad-hominem attacks on your idea of "liberals," misinformed generalizations, and some tired old talking points. Not really enough to argue against.

Since this is going nowhere, what say we all get back to Santorum's insanity?

Quaint. Japan has nothing to worry about. Neither does the US. Both are 100% safe, and unless one of them suddenly gets hit by a meteor 300 miles in diameter, they'll continue to be fine.

We do need additional enforcement for the border.

Then we should spend the money to hire extra border enforcement agents. The military is not trained in enforcing border laws. It also is not their job to enforce our laws.

That's not even the central question. Greece does not have the economic base to meet their obligations. The US has a strong, stable tax base that will be able to meet any conceivable obligations under current laws, and the same goes to Japan.
