well school started and I have two AP courses that are loading me up with homework, so finding posting time is harder. Also I just recently bought fallout 3, and American Football at the college level has begun.

I guess you came to Venezuela in one of those "swings" right?

Not yet; while I've been working with one of your countrywomen, I haven't made it over yet. We're applying for funding for an extension of our collaboration, and I'll be making several trips over to your native-infested lost tropical jungle cities if we're successful.

More seriously, if we get the funding we'll be based in Barcelona over in Anzoategui state, though there might be some scope for extending the project to artefact collections held in Caracas and Maracaibo too.

I've done plenty of swinging through the jungles of central Africa, though. I'll tell you a true story (no - really; this one's 100% true; promise!): some 20 years ago I went hunting with pygmies in the Ituri rainforest of what was then Zaire, and is now of course the Democratic Republic of the Congo again. Unfortunately, the pygmies were far too stoned - permanently - to catch anything. Afterwards we went back to their camp, where we drank heroic quantities of beer, and I taught them how to sing the Monty Python 'Lumberjack Song' - telling them (in French) that it was the national anthem of the United States, and that they would really make a good impression on passing Americans if they sang it at them. I spent the night sleeping in a hut so small that my feet poked out the bottom, where they were mosquito fodder for the night. On the way back to our main camp, we walked into a column of army ants, and I spent a painful 15 minutes picking them off my scrotum.

<sigh>

Those were the days....

You haven't lived until you've had to pick army ants off your scrotum (female readers can substitute the nearest equivalent) after hunting with stoned pygmies.

I decided I needed a time out as I seemed to be letting life bug me more than it should, and I fear It was affecting my judgment and damaging my calm.

That and life has been busy,

I manageed to injure my neck which sucks, but I also one of my thesis chapters passed review with minor revissions and has been accepted for journal publication which is good.

It's not that the glass is half full, or half empty that bugs me, it's that it is half full of rusty nails and broken glass. Thats what bugs me.

Mostly, it's because I've finished a few major projects, and thus have some free time (a couple of weeks) before I flee the United States to attend university or something. (I doubt I'll move back if I have the chance; I like America's history, its government is pretty good, and there are many nice places in its geography, but the American people piss me off.) Hence, I'm on NSG (and IRC, I guess, if anyone here uses that). *waves*

I remember you, hey.

I'd guess most people don't know me anymore either.

I remember you, too. Let's start our club of "Old People Almost Nobody Remembers", where we can have an institutionalized place to sit around and gripe about the grand old days of NSG or somesuch.

At the begining of the summer I ended a four year relationship with someone I had planned to marry. I took a break from NSG because I had a lot going on, and was in terrible moods all the time which would just translate into me getting in trouble here. So I retired the nation of 'Trve' and departed, intending to return when things settled down.

Now I have a new place with 3 of my buddies as my roommates and its glorious.

Life twists and turns unexpectidly.

No he hasn't. He is baiting ;)

Once, in Tonga, a canadian asked the locals if they ate the cats, because we didn't see any in several days of stay. They smiled, answered that there were no cats or almost no cats on the island, so no, they didn't eat cats at all.

Then they described us how excellent the dog stew was, however. And offered us some.

I was so drunk that night that forgot to go to the village for dinner. So I missed my golden opportunity to consume dog meat. Others did, said it wasn't good.

I have had horse meat. Not tasty. Rubbery, dry, and more chewy than I like my meat. My dad told me that he ingested lots of horse meat during the last years of the Spanish Civil War, and the years after it. Said it sucks to no level.
