Just getting an idea of who uses what browsers here on NationStates.

I myself will use either Chrome/Chromium or Lynx depending on the situation; I've been preferring Lynx lately since it loads pages quite quickly (albeit text only), but if I need to use Flash, Java, or anything else graphical and not supported by Lynx, Chromium serves me well. I also use Mobile Safari on my (old and mostly-broken) iPhone; I don't recommend attempting to rely upon it for making forum posts.

IE8. Would be IE9, but this is an XP. Chrome as alternative.

Google Chrome. Perhaps there should be a poll?
"The Nixon campaign in 1968, and the Nixon White House after that, had two enemies: the antiwar left and black people. You understand what I'm saying? We knew we couldn't make it illegal to be either against the war or black, but by getting the public to associate the hippies with marijuana and blacks with heroin, and then criminalizing both heavily, we could disrupt those communities. We could arrest their leaders. raid their homes, break up their meetings, and vilify them night after night on the evening news. Did we know we were lying about the drugs? Of course we did."—former Nixon domestic policy chief John Ehrlichman

My netbook is broken, so I won't be able to log my search trends directly into googles data vats via Chrome, my personal favorite. I simply love the interface of chrome, its ease of use, the speed (oh god, the speed...), and the add-ons. Not nearly as many add-ons as firefox has to offer, but still capable of handling my daily web browsing needs. And it might be my netbook, but Chrome just runs like a charm!

Right now, though, I am browsing IE9. And I must say, I am genuinely surprised at Microsofts improvements. It starts almost as fast as my Chrome would, it is a bit sluggish with actual loading loading though, but at least the interface is nicer. More sleek. Not my personal choice, but at least I can bear to use it without installing Chrome on someone elses laptop. xD Oh, still no spell-check built in. Tsk-tsk... (edit: case in point...)

As for firefox these days, I must say I am a bit disapointed. I honestly can't see where they are going. For a while it was a kickass browser that had an extension for anything I could posibly need. Universal streaming toolbar? Had it. Web element downloader(a la flash, mp4)? Had it. I had more than 48 different plug-ins installed at one point! But perhaps that was the problem? Either way, update after update slowly disabled my add-ons and progressivly slowed load speed until I stopped updating it and only used it for downloading.

Wonder how it is faring on update what is it now?

I'm thinking of upgrading to Firefox 3 so I can get my tabs back after a crash, but I dunno... it's a lot of work.

Interesting. Do you see Google Chrome links on NS? It could do until you find something more to your liking.

Found one for that.

Firefox (well, Debian's version, Iceweasel). It's a great Free Software browser, with features like the Awesome Bar, lots of lovely addons like adblockplus, ghostery and firebug. And at least it doesn't contain any spyware, nor does it change every two weeks introducing new bugs that pop in and out like Chrome.

Heh, I'm not going to pull your leg anymore. I'm actually using Chrome to type this message.

I switched over from Firefox (around the time of FF 4, I think) because it had major issues (*salute*) with RAM leaks -- running Firefox for a long time, or saving my tabs for future use, would end up causing the Firefox service to eat up most of the available RAM in my computer.

So, I switched to Chrome. Save for a few things, and the RAM issue, they're comparable.

I find Chrome crashes a lot. Which is weird because I hardly ever have more than one tab open.
