You now have TNT.

The only book that should be banned is Mein Kampf. It should be banned not only in Germany but internationally. Other than that no.

Sometimes. Like Little Bo-Peep talking about how bad the nation is one thing. But books encouraging crime, murder, rape, etc. should be salted, burned, and banned.

That'd be because of the hydrogen bonding that would develop between the nitrogen and the hydrogen on the carbons.

And, of course, it's an unstable mixture which can be made to go boom.

What if my book explicitly tells the reader to commit an illicit act? Would you extend the same protection to other forms of speech?

Depends on the back. Like if its saying "GO ROB A GROCERY STORE! YOU'LL GET REALLY RICH AND NO ONE CAN TOUCH YOU" type, except in a serious tone, then it should be banned. But if it means like "I'm going to go rob a grocery store. Hehehe..... OH DAMMIT THE POLICE! I HATE JAIL!" then its different.

I think we agree then, although I hold that position tentatively, I'm certainly open to a more liberal stance (i.e. no censorship at all).

Nope. Helter Skelter should be hit with a stone and burned.

Never, ever, ever.

Contexts of media and literature that are obscene should not be censored towards any audience, or artificially controlled in any way.

And in relation to 'obscenities' in media used at schools, often such 'obscenity' is useful in deriving perspective and context.

Whether or not the reader commits the act is his or her choice. It's like blaming Grand Theft Auto for crimes committed by people who play the game. Really, we've gotten so stupidly ignorant in this culture that we can blame books, games, movies and TV shows for our actions and get away with it. Nothing like making a book responsible for our actions, is there. Hell, maybe most of us don't deserve freedom, but I'll be damned if I'm going allow my freedom to restricted because someone else can't handle - at least not without a fight.
