Should books every be censored/banned?

i personally think that books should never be censored/banned, no matter what language they use or what their subject matter is.

the reason I am asking is because my language teacher is forcing us to buy the censored version of huckleberry finn, and it really annoys me that we are forced to read a watered down version of one of the greatest books of all time.

My dream has been realized! I am so happy right now, however now I demand the badass sci-fiction action film of Huck Finn and Robot Jim. It could be like Disney's Treasure Planet and be all so epic.

Robots would come miles to hear Jim tell about it, and he was more looked up to than any robot in that country. Strange robots would stand with their mouths open and look him all over, same as if he was a wonder. Robots is always talking about witches in the dark by the kitchen fire; but whenever one was talking and letting on to know all about such things, Jim would happen in and say, “Hm! What you know ’bout witches?” and that robot was corked up and had to take a back seat.

Depends what you mean by censorship.

The example in the OP is ridiculous, but I have no problem with keeping say, the Turner Diaries, or the Anarchist's Cookbook out of school libraries. Similarly, pornography is probably best censored on school computers and in the library.

Of course I'm talking about reasonable censorship, a book with nudity should not be in an elementary school.

Books should never be censored. I don't care if the book uses the terms "nigger", "spick", "kike", "cracker", or any other similar word. Children need to grow up and learn that that is history. Especially black kids that say "That's racist!" to anything that has the word "black" in it.
