So it only took 7-8 more deaths for them to fix it?

That's pretty efficient.

No...? It's just that nothing is perfect, and they've at least orchestrated a unified effort across the district to stop the situation from happening again. So far, they've been successful with no issues this school year.

Is this awful? Yes. Should the people who pushed them be held responisble? Hell no. If you can't handle the pressure, don't break away from the norm. Societies job is not to conform to you, it is the other way around.

Yeah! All you gays, blacks, trannies, women and brown people! Be white, male and middle aged! Be the norm! Don't be different!

Seriously, it's people like you that cause environments like the one in which Matthew Sheppard was abducted, tortured, and murdered for being gay.

We're not asking for conformation, we're asking for tolerance, which is the duty of society.

The duty of society is not to demand conformity, but to allow freedom as much as possible without a violent disruption of the social order.

I won't argue with that. Tolerance is part of society. However, in exchange for tolerance, society expects conformation to set norms. It also expects emotional fortude in the individual.
