So 7 of the voters so far think he should be castrated. Is this the new fad punishment? I think I'll take the advice of these greedy capitalists ;) and start an anti castration device factory. We can sell the devices for a profit to Republicans.

Groin protection will be the next big thing!

I use it as an argument against Conservative ideas of "Family Values"

That's what I say, Wilgrove. Those "holier-than-thou" types always seem to be the most perverted of them all. It seems they are all sexually repressed or something. That's why they're so fucked-up and mean.

It's a combination of both their bullshit family values and extreme religiosity.

This. It's one thing to be a public figure with a questionable private life, another to be a hypocrite about it.

Though for what it's worth, it does seem somewhat one-sided for Meoton to single out Republicans for this. What about Elliot Spitzer, a Democrat who supposedly had a reputation for being tough on crime until he was caught at it himself? This subject should be more about the hypocrisy of self-riteous politicians caught at immoral things, regardless of political affiliation. (Especially when the political affiliations being referred to are specifically those within the US, a country many people on this forum, including myself, don't even live in.)

Yeah, Spitzer should go to jail.
He violated the law and may have spent public funds.
But I saw that ACORN and Prostitutes thread and thought I would bring in some perspective.
If all ACORN is corrupt then all Republicans are whoremongers.

Heh. Yeah, if only they would just mind their damn business instead of preaching about "morality", then no one would care as much. Also, maybe if people weren't as prudish about sex then they wouldn't be so violent -- and everyone could spend their money on more important things than nonsensical trials for "adulterers".

Or, maybe, most of us just don't give a damn about what the neighbors are doing as long as they're not being obnoxious about it.

If I didn't give a damn about what Clinton did to that intern, I'm not going to give a damn about who a senator sleeps with. If it's none of my business, it's none of my business.

What to do we do with them?

The same thing you do with christians who are not christ-like. I am an atheist, but I can understand the idea of a personal failing. I can understand how someone can have ideals and not live up to their own ideals by being too weak. But not living up to one's constructive values is not quite the same thing as having values which are destructive.

For example, I try to eat right. But sometimes, I still find myself eating junk. That's not quite the same as someone who eats junk all the time.

There's probably a difference between having a big mac and doing meth off a rent boy's ass.

Both are failures to live up to one's own ideals. It's just a matter of degree. I actually have no problem with hypocrites. If people want to set impossible moral standards for themselves, it's their business. I have a problem with them trying to set any moral standards for anyone else, but getting caught violating those moral standards simply doesn't change anything. It doesn't prove or disprove the fact that setting moral standards for others is idiotic. It's just unrelated.

I do have a problem with politicians using their position to espouse moral standard and pass legislation for us when they have no intention of following those standards themself. Then at the end of the day, they get down on their knees or talk to their pastor and lo and behold are forgiven or cured by God, then go right back to their hypocrisy.
Human beings, who are almost unique in having the ability to learn from the experience of others, are also remarkable for their apparent disinclination to do so.

Normally I'd say it's no ones business except for him, his wife and the third party. But when they are screaming family values to everyone else, the hypocrasy should get them thrown out of office. Afterall, they are hardly representing their constituency when they say one thing publically and do another privately.

I do give a damn -- not about what Clinton did to the intern, but, rather, about what the intern did to Clinton. Did she give him a really good BJ, or just a "so-so" one? And more importantly, did she swallow?

Republicans suck, Democrats swallow.
