Two decades after the Cold War ended, the U.S. is finally bringing two combat brigades back home where they belong. They're not coming from Iraq or Afghanistan, but from Germany.
Army Chief of Staff Gen. Ray Odierno told the Associated Press that two heavy-armor combat brigades currently stationed in Germany would be removed from Europe before 2014, leaving two combat brigades in Europe (one in Germany, the other in Italy). The plan is part of a reduction in force that will eliminate 80,000 active duty soldiers from the Army by 2017.

My question is Why do we even have troops in Europe??
