I have nothing against women and I do believe in gender equality, which is why these things about feminsim bug me.
Feminists like to cherry pick the sexist ideas that benefit them. The biggest one being that women are always inferior to men in physical combat, therefore its the man's fault even if the woman started the fight by hitting first. If feminists say that women should serve in combat roles such as the military, then they should also be able to hold their own in a fight. Anything less is gender discrimination.
The next biggest one is that women don't make any money, so the man must pay for the date. Women have been using this one for far too long. Even in a time when more women are going to college than men, they still see this as a customary rule to dating. Dont they see that it is strongly implying that they can't even support themselves without a man? This idea was probably relevant back in the middle ages when women couldnt get jobs, but in this day and age, I don't see a need for it. It's fair and equal to split the pay.
My final example is the idea that women are somehow entitled to be rescued first. Who is usually the first to go in hostage situations? Women and children. What makes a woman more entitled to rescue than a man? I thought there was supposed to be an equal playing field with feminists, but now that you are in danger, you are playing the "im jsut a frail little lady." card.
It's double standards like above that make it hard to take feminism seriously. If women really want to be equal to men, they have to let go of sexist traditional ideas that make them unequal. You cant preach equality and hold onto ideas like this at the same time.
