To be fair, the Bills are playing very well - but the third interception was absolutely stupid, the linebacker was right there - and he threw it at him. The first was just great defense, second was a great solo dive - although the pass was a bit wayward and the fumble wasn't a fumble. Bills are playing well on both sides of the ball at the moment.

My impression of Vick is that he is too reluctant to take the check-down pass for a few yards but a guaranteed completion. It seems to me that check-downs are one of the reasons McNabb was a good quarterback in Philly for so long. I know Vick doesn't have Westbrook to catch it out of the backfield, but I think he needs to be more conservative sometimes...

I like aggressive quarterbacks, but aye - he probably should try to play more conservatively, mainly because he creates problems for himself because he is so aggressive.

Not technically NFL, but any European Gridiron (using gridiron to avoid phrases like 'European Football' or 'European American Football') fans looking forward to NCAA games (such as the Notre Dame-Navy game in Dublin) coming to Europe?

I'm looking forward to this massively - I live in England, but I'm half Irish (and then a lot of other things too), and so have family who may be heading to that game. I'd love for their to be a European or UK-based franchise, which would be awesome - but I can't see that ever happening.

What do people think of a possible european/uk-based franchise?

I'm torn on the idea. I would rather just have every NFL team (ideally. realistically, as many teams as possible) play at least one game a year in the UK. My Bears are playing the Bucs at Wembley on the 23rd, I'm excited to watch that.

The quality of my spelling in that last post was terrible, just noticed..

Anyway, that idea would make sense - but surely it would be easier to have one franchise that has one schedule which only affects 16 games (as I'd think the european/uk franchise would be independent of any division, really - which would throw out scheduling quite a bit, but meh, I'm dreaming!), rather than forcing every team to come out here. I'd enjoy seeing more games, over here - but I'd like there to be a team that I can say: 'Yeah, I support them', which I don't feel I can do at the moment as I don't believe anyone can have any real affinity to something that is so far away..

It would be a scheduling nightmare, for one thing. A UK Franchise could never play a "prime time" game - the kickoff would have to be at 3am or so your time. How would they handle playoff scheduling, too, when games are played in the afternoon/evening here? Also, you're dead on about the division thing. I think it'd be too complicated to have to rearrange everything to get a division together that could deal with having a team 3,500 miles away.

Only by moving an existing franchise, not through expansion.

Right now, everything in the NFL is all about powers of 2, and I'm obsessed with powers of 2. Expansion would totally screw that up.

Yeah, definitely. The time thing, would be a big problem - but I think that would be minor compared to the scheduling nightmare it creates - people will get up to watch their team if they want to watch them, after all. The only way I can see it working is perhaps there being a division of european teams or something, but then that gets massively complicated - as I said, I'm dreaming really!

The atmosphere would be awesome for home games though, it'd nearly be a stadium full of people supporting the uk/whatever franchise - and it would tap into a market which could generate the NFL a lot of money, first British player in the NFL etc - all that sort of thing would make them a lot of money in sponsorships and things.

I doubt that moving a team to the UK would necessarily result in that team signing British players.

I wasn't suggesting that in the slightest. Of course American players would be signed, for obvious reasons - the quality of the players is higher, but chances are - there will be at least on British player in a UK team, if only to make up the numbers needed.

I didn't know that the NFC East became an conference, last I checked it was an division of the NFC. Personally I believe that the best division in the NFC would be North simply because of the Packers and how well Detroit has been doing this season, the Vikings and Bears are also doing alright I suppose.

I highly suspect there are 53 American players without an NFL contract who are much better than any British player.

Yes.

There has been a lot of cheating in the NFL this year. I mean, more than usual. It's ridiculous.

At least Painter looked sharp. I know it was the Cheif's secondary, but you might want to think about trading out of the no.1 spot instead of nabbing Luck.
