Okay, Vick's comments on the refs were totally justified. I don't know how many of you watched more than just his highlights last year, but he gets POUNDED every game. I even started counting how many of the hits on him in the 2010 season would have been roughing the passer calls on, say, Brady or Manning, and I was at 25-ish. The new and improved Michael Vick is too classy to say anything about it, but he's finally standing up for himself now since the refs seem to feel that he deserves to be treated like a running back.

Whew. Rant over. :)

You guys need to let him be Vick. Why is he in the pocket? All the defensive coordinators and players, love it. Because they know exactly where to find him.

Just so you know, when a quarterback leaves the pocket all quarterbrack rules are gone. Even if he's behind the line of scrimmage and still looking to pass, if he's outside the pocket area he can take those shots and won't get penalties.

True, but I've seen some of the hits Vick takes even when he is in the pocket. If somebody hits Tom Brady's douchey face like that, they're getting fined out their ass.

Now personally, I don't like any of the rule changes, a guy like Brady shouldn't be able to play at all as long as he has if the game's played right, imo, but if you're going to have them, if you're going to have these stupid fines, you need to apply them equally, and not just to your pet players.

Actually, Tom Brady is among the players who benefit from roughing the passer flags least often, in terms of flags thrown per pass. He gets a lot of attention on this point because of OMG BRADYPOUTYFACE, but guys really don't get called a lot for hitting him.

It bears mentioning that Vick is in the top ten in terms of flags received per pass.

Wow...that's an interesting stat. It doesn't change anything about how I think Vick should be getting more like 1.46 flags per attempt, though--there's a reason he gets hurt, and that's because the cheap shots add up over time.

EDIT: Also, did anyone else notice that Jay Cutler's in second? Guess that silences the "Cutler = wimp" people from last year. :lol2:

Yeah, but I don't think those numbers do the problem justice, I mean realisticaly how often do you really think Brady gets sacked per one hundred throws? I think a better way to gauge it would be how many flags per however many hits taken. too often I've watched a game and Brady finally gets sacked but he draws the flag, whereas in the same timeframe vickhas gone down four or five times and gotten none.

Now, a lot of that is just the effect of a good o-line versus an absolutely terrible one, but still I feel it bears mentioning. Also lolcutler, Hehe.

The hit-per-call thing is probably a good reason why Cutler is so high - if he gets sacked 5 or 6 times and hit 20 times a game he'll get more calls in a season than someone who gets hit maybe 20 times in a three game stretch. I feel bad for the kid. I didn't like trading for him - I really like Orton and wasn't happy to see him go. And it's not just that I've got a football and flag signed by him, he had a good Chicago Bear personality.

I admit, I felt bad for him towards the end of that Saints game, I mean, let's face it, New Orleans doesn't have the best D-Line in the league(One of the reasons I think their performance fell off from '09 is that the D-line is kind of on the old and fat side, heh), yet they were treating the Bears' O-line like it was nothing. I fear what happens to Cutler when they run into someone like Suh in Detroit, :?

He's actually handled Detroit alright - last year, at least.

I honestly put a lot of the blame on Martz's shoulders. That Saints game was an embarrassment. I don't know why he insisted on calling 7 step drops instead of quick slants or bubble screens. The Bears have been very good at both. He was obviously looking for a home run, but when you're going 3-and-out because of constant pressure and sacks you're not going to be able to hang in the game long enough to get that home run pass.

I live in southeast PA so I've often rooted for the Eagles over the years, but not wholeheartedly.
Being married to a Cowboys fan I'm basically a fan of whichever team Dallas is playing.
Three years ago I felt really bad when Detroit went 1-15 so I declared myself a Lions fan and have stuck with them. Seems to be working out well for me this year so far. Especially today.
Suck it Dallas!

Cowboys still overrated choke artists. Totally called their loss.

Also, Jack Del Rio needs to be fired. I picked them for their division at the beginning of the season, based on the fact that in a weak division I figured Garrard was poised for a breakout year. Of course then Del Rio turns around and says, "Fuck it, I'm playing the new guy, cause I'm retarded", and it really showed today, I mean, you can't go for it on 4th and long in the first quarter against the Saints and expect it to work out, and later when Jones-Drew started to pick things up, Del Rio stubbornly decided to go back to an all passing offense and the Jags epically failed at it, Gabbert immediately throwing an interception.

On the bright side though, such ineptitude contributes to a nice Saints win, :). And Drew Brees had what I thought turned out to be a pretty cool play, he threw an interception, but what made it badass is that he himself got the tackle on it, how many QBs do that after throwing an interception? Not many, XD

Who Dat!?
