Don't bother with standards or whatever. If you like someone, you like them. If someone talks to you, talk back, and say whatever you want. If it's going to work out, it's going to work out. If you decide to get married you'll generally have to, you know, live together, so hiding things or pretending isn't actually helping.

What makes some people unable to get a "mate" and others highly successful?

Also I was wondering how does someone go about dating and "asking someone out".

What were your dating experiences like?

I'll probably think of more questions as the thread progresses.

1.
It usually depends on how you look. Most girls look for the hottest guy, which gets you a lot of dates, but then it'll start coming down to personality long term. Basically, if you have a great personality, you'll end up with more long-lasting relationships. But for girls mostly, looking pretty cool does earn some points.

2. I have no experience in that region. Mostly, either I stay single or a girl asks me out (Which has only happned twice. What I know is from my sister and friends I talk to)

3.
I've never been on a date. So again, I have no experience.

Well quite..

I went for her because we lended eachother DVDs...other than that, I would have honestly ignored her and her well-endowed figure. I found our breif social pairing to be acceptable despite peer's disapproval because said peers would comletly ignore her behavior if a man did it.

Okay, three steps;

1. Find someone you like and get to know them.
2. If you have something in common and feel attracted to them, ask said person out.
3. If they say yes, you're in.

My experiences have been lacking in any good qualities. My last fling(I refuse to call it a relationship) ended with my four-hour-haircut-made hair cut, my self worth damaged and my emotions ravaged. I am currently trying to void out my attraction to people for at least until summer, but sadly, I still maintain some crushes on people I feel are unobtainable.

When people retract from the dating advise "be yourself," I'm usually lost at their inability to grasp what that means.

By being honest with yourself, you can walk into any situation knowing a) what you want/what you don't want and b) who you are/what you can do.

Talking to a woman isn't about creating a supernatural bond on the first go. You shouldn't dive into a situation expecting that something will come out of it. These things are created through routine.

Talk to a girl, any girl, don't overthink any of them because you'll psyche yourself out. Shyness is natural. Go with what you know and the rest develops like anything else.
