Describe Your Political Ideology

Postby Prythaine » Thu Jan 05, 2012 6:27 am

The main reason for me setting this thread up is that most people, while identifying with an ideology, have ideas and views and principles that stand out with said political standpoint.

I myself identify as a Communist. I've been told I'm actually closer to being a Socialist, but just tell people I'm a Communist because it tends to get a stronger reaction out of them. :p

I identify as more of an authoritarian Communist. (Take a look at my "Political Compass;" http://kcammy.deviantart.com/gallery/#/d4hs6pi) But that's probably because I'm at the other end of the scale from Anarcho-Communists. That means more power to the state in economic affairs. However, I'm completely against the state having any power in anyone's private affairs. There are some things the state should just not be allowed to interfere with.

I also, strangely, have some rather... Imperialist views... Figure that one out! :p

I'm a Statist. I identify most closely with Kemalism, but with a turn of the 19th/20th-century American progressive bent.

Fascist minus all that racialism and anti-Semitism so I guess my brand of Fascism is more aligned with Italian Fascism and Spanish Fascism.

Erm, I determine my views on any given issue based on what the evidence suggests the most productive move would be, with an eye to utilitarian maximisation of happiness tempered by concerns for fairness and other left-wing bullshit like that.

I don't tend to to hold labels for very long; the only view I've held with any consistency is that to minimize the aggregate suffering of all persons is of paramount importance; though I discard certain categories of people from this calculus.

Bit odd. I take each issues individually. Socially, I tend to lean to the (rather) extreme left, whilst economically I'm more centre - leftish. For example, I support capitalism, but not for uber-large corporations and I'm a Nordic modelist, although not quite.
If any of that makes sense.
My full name is actually "[The] Teddy Bear Republic Empire."

Libertarian nearly (?) to the point of anarchism. I support democratic socialism in the real world, but I believe that the ideal is to return to more tribal lifestyles. I'll offhandedly call myself anarcho-primitivist, or agrarianist, or communalist.

I define myself as a Social-Capitalist. One who believes in competition and private enterprise, but also believes that the government should hold strong regulations over these companies to ensure workers are not exploited, everybody receives fair treatment, etc. I also support a healthcare option, where there is both a private, and public option for healthcare. With regards to conflicts, unless a nation is directly attacking us, or threatening us (and we have solid evidence they'd follow through with the threat), then I do not believe we have any right to stick our dicks in every other nation like they're just a bunch of fleshlights.

Both around her first term. Then again female PMs who are elected seem to hang around for a bit.

Why they made a film in honour of someone who destroyed the industrial base of Britain, created some of the highest unemployment, wealth disparity and child poverty in the UK is beyond me.

Anyway I would like to call myself non-political. But I do love a good economics debate  :P
