Haha I'm probably a part of that generation so I understand your pain. It's full of selfish and egotistical jerks who can't step out of their protective bubble for 2 minutes.

"...and we're smarter!" I think this is actually a big reason people believe in "ancient astronauts": they have some misconception that people used to be dumber historically*, and therefore figure that "the ancients" were just too stupid to use clever tricks to do things.
*: Frequently because they've heard some nonsense about what people used to think back then.

I'm probably one of the only people at my school who idolize SCIENTISTS instead of stupid celebrities on shows like Jersey Shore. It's fucking embarrassing to be a part of this generation.

I just rub my temples out of frusteration. I've gotten up to diagram my arguements in class at least 5 times already in class, because they didn't understand what I was saying, despite it being perfectly reasonable within the acedemic circles. It wasn't even during a debate period...

At least, in my experience at least.

No. You should stop watching """""History""""" channel. It's made by people who recycle Von Daeniken's book without even giving him due credit.

According to Wakipedia -- since this isn't important enough to find better sources -- both the Hoover Dam and the Great Pyramid contain roughly the same volume of rock, about 2.5M m^3. I'd much rather have a dam providing electricity and a stable water supply than a pile of rocks memorializing some guy's self-importance.
Regardless, we have gotten quite lazy. Plus it seems to me that we don't have the drive to do amazing things anymore.

We... what? Are you familiar with the space program? The Hubble telescope routinely takes amazing pictures; we have one probe orbiting Saturn (Cassini) and another orbiting an asteroid (Dawn); we're finding planets in other f'ing solar systems, and we have robots en route to Mars and Pluto. Damn, that's pretty amazing to me.
In medicine, we talk about exterminating diseases (AIDS, Guinea worm), not just treating them. Some cancers have gone from being a death sentence to merely being expensive to treat. We routinely transplant body parts, even faces. Not amazing enough??
We can watch porn from anywhere on Earth! Man, the ancients would have killed for that! You kids are just too jaded.
