Why can't the History Channel air just one program about ancient cultures and religions that doesn't have space aliens in it? It's the History Channel, damn it, not the Sci Fi Channel.

I damn hope so. It would probably give us that hope and inspiration we had when we landed the first man on the moon.

I doubt that. Mine is an unappreciative generation. They'd be more worried about when the next Jersey Shore episode is coming on...

Haha I'm probably a part of that generation so I understand your pain. It's full of selfish and egotistical jerks who can't step out of their protective bubble for 2 minutes.

They do... all the time. I just wish that they did one that was actually about history. Not Nazis, not sex, not religion, not cults, just good old boring, dull and dry history.

I just rub my temples out of frusteration. I've gotten up to diagram my arguements in class at least 5 times already in class, because they didn't understand what I was saying, despite it being perfectly reasonable within the acedemic circles. It wasn't even during a debate period...

I'm probably one of the only people at my school who idolize SCIENTISTS instead of stupid celebrities on shows like Jersey Shore. It's fucking embarrassing to be a part of this generation.

Haha I'm actually in Debate, and we had a debate over Capitalism because I made the comment, "It doesn't fucking work." Everyone started raging and SEVERAL people said socialism is the same as communism. My face:

You do not want to know.

Essentially, it would be a show about 12 Berlusconis in one little house.

Well, maybe not just that.

Well, there were those visits by the Furon navy to let off some steam after they got done wiping out the Martians. But that was back before we were Homo Sapiens closer to the days of Homo Erectus, IIRC.

No. You should stop watching """""History""""" channel. It's made by people who recycle Von Daeniken's book without even giving him due credit.

And his book doesn't even give credit to the hack pulp fiction author he took the entire idea from.

For some reason I always think that he wrote "Chariots of the Gods" and then did nothing else. It happens every time he comes up. And then I look him up and learn that he is not in fact dead.

Regardless, we have gotten quite lazy. Plus it seems to me that we don't have the drive to do amazing things anymore.

We... what? :eyebrow: Are you familiar with the space program? The Hubble telescope routinely takes amazing pictures; we have one probe orbiting Saturn (Cassini) and another orbiting an asteroid (Dawn); we're finding planets in other f'ing solar systems, and we have robots en route to Mars and Pluto. Damn, that's pretty amazing to me.

In medicine, we talk about exterminating diseases (AIDS, Guinea worm), not just treating them. Some cancers have gone from being a death sentence to merely being expensive to treat. We routinely transplant body parts, even faces. Not amazing enough??

We can watch porn from anywhere on Earth! Man, the ancients would have killed for that! You kids are just too jaded. :)
