More Falklands Trouble

I say that the our government should pay no attention to the Argentines because (even though my mother is Argentinian) they are only spoilt people who still are not happy about Britain conquering the Falkland islands from them in the 1800's. Have you also noticest that when we found oil Argentina started wanting the Falklands even more.

I'm torn between my dislike of European imperialism in the Americas or at least how the Falklands, to some extent, has come to represent that, and my support of the United Kingdom, as an ally of the US.

Pretty sure those guys living in Falklands don't want to be Argentinians. And Britain has every right to explore the oil surrounding the island's waters. If anything, it's Latin America imperialism.

The people (most of them) may be British, though, the land (and sea) still is Argentinan,

Sovereignity on the land belongs to the people who inhabit it. The current Falklanders have been mostly born there, from people who were born there. And they want to be British. So, end of the story.
As for the sea, international treatises say islands have territorial waters and EEZ.

The land is in British control due to British imperialism.

And South America is in Argentinian control due to Spanish imperialism.

I believe they should give the land back to Argentina, or, at least stop drilling for oil there.

And I believe the Argentinians should give the land back to the aboriginals, or at least stop building cities and farming crops there.

I just wished Argentina would stop behaving like a spoilt brat regarding the Falklands, would be even better if the UN passed something to resolve things once and for all.

Wow, the Argie govt.'s really stirred up at those tiny strips of barren land (no offense to the those proud but lonely inhabitants of the Falklands, of course). I mean, there isn't much except a few fishing areas, a handful of self-sufficient oil producers, and a few tourists, but that's pretty much it. I think the Falklands should remain the Brits' Falklands, and not Argentina's or any other South American nation's Malvinas.

The problem with getting the UN involved is that they have decided that all small islands that are owned by nations (every oversea territory of Britain included) should all be under there own control. But what they dont understand is that the reason that some of our oversea dependencies do not wish to be 'free' is that the are one of these 1.Cannot support themselves without the main nation or 2.Want to be part of the main nation e.g. Falkland Islands.
