Body doesn't burn fast enough to destroy the brain in the few seconds it would take a now flaming zombie to reach you, also the smell of burning flesh would only attract more zombies to your location ensuring you wouldn't be going anywhere.

You're entirely missing my point. In zombie movies and games, it takes forever to destroy zombies with a flamethrower, if it works at all. In real life, it would take seconds.
